My job as a Captain for a major airline takes me to many fun and interesting international destinations. Come with me as I explore and post my life in aviation, my travel highlights, and my favorite places to eat and stay in amazing locations ...
The hotel sits at the intersection of 4 canals with the rooms facing the canals with a beautiful, peaceful view of this area of the city, which is more residential than business. The entrance to the hotel is serene and peaceful with a bridge over a small pond fully stocked with exotic fish that sits directly in front of the main entrance. The hotel also has plenty of bikes available to guests for their use. We were greeted by the friendly staff and checked in without delay. The lobby is inviting and leads to their beautiful restaurant and lounge that has incredible views of the canals. The rooms are done up in a 1920s deco-ey style with dark green tones and other earth tones. I was given a corner room with two sides of expansive windows that looked out on the canals. With all the curtains open the room felt expansive. To my surprise this was one of the few rooms with a balcony. It was a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun went down.
Jun 2024The hotel itself is a little remote but it is made a little better by having two full service restaurants on site. One is a higher end steak house and the other is a sushi place, which acts more like a hotel bar/pub type restaurant. My room for this stay was a king bedroom. The pillows at this hotel are absolutely HORRIBLE. They have an unusual shape, kind of oblong, and they are lumpy. They have no choice of feather or foam only these lumpy things. My bathroom was bright and clean with refillable pump toiletries, which are great - UNLESS they don't fill them daily. All three of the bottles were nearly empty.
Jun 2024I love the fact that you can walk to this hotel from the terminal, saving lots of time in terminal gridlock. The front desk staff was very friendly and quickly checked me into my room. Either in the lobby or just off the lobby there is a restaurant, a Starbucks, and a small convenience store. The styling of this hotel is modern and chic. My room was nice with modern furnishings. The room accents were in bright yellow (ice bucket and the coffee station) which may sound a little loud, but it worked for me! There was a huge flat screen tv in the room, a large table, and a couch that could be converted into a small single bed. I like the use of a large table versus a desk because it makes the room homier and less office like. The bed linens and pillows were of really nice quality. The bathroom was a bit dark. The shower was excellent, with a rain head, shower wand combination. Big bonus for their use of large toiletries in the shower instead of single use ones.
