The Thompson Atlanta – Buckhead, by Hyatt is a refreshing new take on hotel stays from a company (Thompson) that started in New York City before being absorbed into the Hyatt brand. The hotel is in more of a residential area which gives it a homey feel, away from the major roads. I have not been this impressed with a hotel in a long, long time. For the price point, this hotel feels like a much more expensive luxury brand. The lobby is beautiful. When I was there, they were running a tribute to Stevie Wonder, displaying many photos and instruments from the famous performer. My room opened into a vestibule with a slim table that felt more like a home than a hotel. The room was absolutely beautiful with custom cabinetry and a dark and classy theme. I am not a green fan, but they pull off olive green perfectly. It goes with the rest of the furnishings so well. The bed was really comfortable with fine cotton sheets of really good quality. Good cotton sheets sleep cooler than a mixed, inferior fabric. They had foam and feather pillows standard on the bed. They were of great quality. The bathroom is stunningly beautiful. The shower is large with black subway tiles and a nook for toiletries. Extra points for having large pump toiletries versus single use ones and they aren't screwed to the wall. They trust you with them on the shelf, which is nice if you want to use the shampoo or shower gel as hand soap at the sink. The shower water pressure will blow you away, in a good way. It is such a relaxing shower, perfect in every way. They have a Nespresso virtuoso coffee maker in every room - WOW! Those of you that know Nespresso know it is one of the better coffees out there. The coffee bar is stocked with enough espresso and coffee for a day or two. This is such a nice touch. My only complaint about the hotel is that they lost my laundry and dry cleaning. It took 3 calls and the need for a manager for them to care enough to find my dry cleaning. They knew they dropped the ball, so the manager comped my dry-cleaning costs. It feels like a genuine gesture for something that was not handled so well. I am happy with the outcome. I cannot recommend this hotel enough if you want a unique stay at a very reasonable price point (approximately $250). I will be rating this hotel with 5-stars. If I could give it 6, I would. 00:00 Exterior 00:12 Lobby 00:33 Outdoor Patio 00:57 Lobby Lounge and Bar 01:10 Meeting Rooms 01:23 Room 421 Tour #plannin
