The San Luis Resort Galveston is a AAA 4-Diamond hotel in Galveston, Texas right across the street from the beach. It's a beautiful property with great views of the gulf. The rooms are fairly modern and have large patios. They also come with complimentary bottles of water in the mini-fridge. While the hotel itself is great, I highly recommend staying there during the winter months when there aren't as many people. Their pool is heated and is usually open year-round. The property is pet-friendly and has a dog park as well as a tennis court by the self-parking lot. If you're looking for places to eat nearby, I highly recommend ordering pizza from Papa's Pizza and getting a slice of lemonade dream cake at Mosquito Café.
The Mayflower Park hotel first opened its doors in 1927. It is an independent property with a timeless, vintage style. It has a perfect central location with easy walking access to Pike Place Market, the Seattle waterfront, the Space Needle, and the Seattle Center. It is also less than a block from the Seattle monorail which provides great access to the city. From the moment you arrive at the Mayflower Park hotel, you can feel the old school glamour of the property. The beautiful archway that leads to the front door sets the scene for the gorgeous lobby awaiting you. This hotel makes you feel like you're stepping back into the 1920s. My entire stay was wonderful. I loved my large room and its view of the city, I loved eating breakfast at the Andaluca restaurant, and most importantly, I loved the feeling of walking into the lobby and stepping back in time. Although this hotel is not perfect, largely because of its age, it is probably one of the best places to stay in Seattle.
