The Austin Proper is one of the newest hotel offerings in downtown Austin, Texas. It is located in the western part of the downtown district, and it is very walkable. It is walking distance to many great restaurants, including Flower Child across the street. It is also extremely close to Lady Bird Lake, the Austin Central Library, and the Seaholm complex. This property offers great dining, including the rooftop restaurant La Piscina. Although the food at this hotel is not cheap, it is very good. The most intriguing part of this hotel is undoubtedly its unique design. The Austin Proper has a style that I would describe as "contemporary mediterranean". It is very different from the design of other upscale offerings in the area, such as the Four Seasons Austin and the Fairmont Austin. I cannot Recommend the Austin Proper enough. The service, the food, the design, and the location are all great.
