Miter saw tip: make a “stop block” to make repetitive cuts without measuring each time 🪚 Just cut one piece of your lumber to the right size, line that up with the saw blade, then clamp a scrap of wood down on the other side. Now you can butt the lumber up against the stop block to get the same size cut each time. Stick around for more DIY tips and to see what I’m doing with all these little half rounds 👀 PS I realize the way my arms are crossed looks weird on video but that’s what felt the most natural and therefore most safe way for me to cut this short a piece of trim 🤣 I couldn’t hold the other side because my fingers would be too close to the blade. During the day I would’ve opened the garage door and set it up the other way but alas, I often DIY at night after work. When using power tools always wear safety gear, follow manufacturer instructions, and use common sense ☺️ Have you used a stop block before?

Here’s how I made these zero-waste, zero-dollar, reusable holiday gift bags 🎁 I asked my local Buy Nothing Project FB group for fabric. One neighbor even put in treats for Cheddar! Then I started sewing simple bags. Through trial and error I figured out that you need to fold a few inches over at the top so when the bag is tied the inside looks nice. Then add a ribbon, and you’re done! Now everybody will get their gifts this year in a reusable bag that they can pass amongst friends and family. How I refinished these bedside tables ⬇️ - Cleaned - Sanded to remove the damaged mdf - Primed - Strained paint into sprayer and thinned it to be ready to spray - Painted with oops paint from Home Depot using my paint sprayer - Sanded with a paper bag which acts like super fine grit sandpaper - Wiped with a tack cloth - Sprayed again - Sprayed general finishes top coat 🔗All the supplies used are on my Amazon storefront in a list called paint sprayer and supplies This is the second time I used my paint sprayer and I love it! The sprayer is so easy to use. I strained the paint and thinned it with water to be ready to spray. The first time I used my sprayer for the topcoat I sprayed WAY too much. I messaged HomeRight on instagram and asked them for tips and they told me to turn the dial down so it sprays less and not get as close. It’s harder to see the top coat than paint but it should look like donut glaze as it goes on. The top coat is important especially since I used oops paint that isn’t made for furniture. (oops paint is paint that someone didn’t want after seeing the color so the hardware store sells it for cheap). Don’t worry! It’s rated to hold 600 lbs and once you’ve screwed in all those lag bolts you will feel very confident and very glad it’s over. (It was a pain) 😂
