Nothing!
To all female solo travellers: Please think twice before booking a room at this property, as I found it to be an unsafe place. I booked a room for one night to explore Quebec City, and while I initially contemplated staying longer, I was ultimately relieved that it was only for one night. My experience began with an unpleasant check-in. Upon arrival, I encountered a staff member named Denis, who is of black African descent. He asked me if I was there for business, which I thought was a normal question, so I replied no. He then handed me the key to room #3001. Once I entered the room, I was taken aback to find it unusual, with an additional door that allowed staff to enter easily. At that moment, I began to understand what Denis meant by asking if I was there for business. A few minutes later, I decided to go to the reception desk to express my concerns about the room. As I made my way there, I noticed another staff member, who appeared to have a Chinese background, approaching my room. I asked him what type of room I had been given, as I didn’t want to stay in it, and then continued to the reception desk. Upon reaching the desk, I saw both Denis and the staff member of Chinese descent conversing. When I started to complain, Denis told me it was a mistake and handed me a key to a different room. After a long six-hour train ride, I was tired but excited to explore Quebec City. The initial encounter with Denis had already put a damper on my day. After checking the second room, I wanted to ensure it was safe and free of cameras before staying there for the night. I went back to the reception and asked Denis, the staff member of black African descent, to check the coffee maker in the room. I must admit I became angry when I told him that he could lose his job for repeating the same mistakes. To my shock, he laughed rudely and said he would never lose his job! To Owner, If you are operating a different business within the hostel, you may risk losing your license shortly.
