This was a very comfortable and quiet place to stay for a family emergency. I loved my own floor suite and the self check in was very convenient and the staff and breakfast were great!
Lovely B&B in a great location. Charmingly furnished with creeky floors - but in style with the house. Staff are friendly and attentive.
The common area is beautiful. The staff person who greeted us gave us a nice tour of the house, which is eclectic and has an interesting history. She did her best to assist us given the limitations of the situation.
We were unable to sleep at night. We stayed in a small room that had a hallway to a private bathroom. Our bed was very uncomfortable and the heater clanked extremely loudly throughout the day and night. It was awful-- sounded like a series of explosions each time, and it happened every few minutes. In addition, it didn't provide adequate heat so there was another heater affixed to the wall that blew hot air on us and made me cough. The bathroom was unheated but had a space heater, which we were told to turn on when we wanted to use the bathroom but it took awhile to actually warm up the bathroom so when we needed to use the bathroom it was a very cold and unpleasant experience. The mattress was very uncomfortable. It was a really awful night and we were exhausted the next day. We were up early of course due to all of this, and went down to make coffee but there wasn't any coffee left for us to use. A few hours later, staff arrived and made us coffee which was weak and tasteless. They prepared a wonderful breakfast for me-- homemade waffles-- the best I have had in my life. My husband can't eat gluten or dairy and they made him an omelette with potatoes but the potatoes were raw. He sent it back and they cooked the potatoes some more, so they were dark on the outside but still raw on the inside. We tried to nap in the afternoon but could not with all the clanking from the heater. We chose to leave and end our vacation, since it was so unpleasant and exhausting. We asked for a refund and were denied it. Very disappointing experience and suffice to say we will never go back. I think the mixed reviews of this place can be explained by a few things: 1. There is one really beautiful room, spacious and with a fireplace, that I can see really enjoying if it had been available. Ours was dark and tiny. 2. If you come in the summer and don't use the heat, maybe you would be able to sleep. Good luck if you choose to stay here.
Very nice location, beautiful home. Cozy accommodations. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you for a great stay.
