Ohara Sensui Surrounded by Beautiful Nature

Im so lucky to have been able to live in such a nice and cozy house in Kyoto, it felt like a second home. Surrounded by beautiful nature and far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, I was fully relaxed here.

The owner was very kind. And the accommodation was clean and very spacious. If I visit here next time, I will definitely stay here

I'm not dissatisfied with anything.However, if you take public transportation, you have to walk a little.

Ohara Sensui is a great little cottage to stay in while exploring the Ohara area . It is clean & has everything you need for a comfortable stay . We bought food in Kyoto , since there is no supermarket in Ohara . Rieko is a lovely host and speaks English . It is very tranquil place to stay in Ohara .

The hosts are incredible and very personal. They also speak English very well - so thats great as an international traveler. They went above and beyond when I got a little lost in the dark coming back late in the evenings from the city. After all all the roofs of the homes look the same in Japan. It is a little tricky to get to, but they help and speak directly to taxi drivers etc. In Japanese. Other than that - great location in Ohara and enough adorable shops and restaurants around. Fabulous well kept and modern. Nice to sleep on western style beds. Nice backyard and fabulous view.

Breathing taking scenery surrounded by mountains and greenery, quiet environment recommended for any travelers that wants to avoid the tourist crowds. The host is always prompt in her reply. Despite no cooked breakfast provided due to licensing issue, the host prepared milk, juices and cereal and snacks and a loaf of bread for us.

Location. Highly recommended to have your own transport either self drive or booked car to pick you up.

We wanted a quiet location as a retreat and this certainly ticked the box. So very peaceful. Within a short walking distance there were several temples with beautiful gardens and a lovely waterfall too. We also had lovely meals (daytime) only a stones throw away in the gift shop that has a restaurant overlooking the mountains. The hosts were very friendly and helpful too with suggestions. We would love to return at some point.

I would recommend getting a taxi from a main station as smaller nearby stations do not always have taxis and the walk from Ohara to the property is 15 mins uphill. The local shop is not the most stocked so I would suggest stocking up as the hosts suggest on the booking.com site (but we didnt as we had a lot of luggage).
