Close to the fair
We didn’t have the room cleaned everyday which was fine but a little weird to get used to. Breakfast Good Friday but not open until 7 on the weekend and we left earlier than that so getting a room w/ complimentary breakfast was pointless.
Close to fairgrounds
No room service unless your specifically request.
The location near the fairgrounds is the only positive attribute of this property. Everything else about our stay at the BW Inn at the Fairgrounds was disappointing at best—and downright appalling at worst.
From the start, the experience was subpar. The front desk attendant who checked us in was cold and borderline hostile, setting a negative tone for the rest of our stay. The room itself was mediocre: clean enough, but the beds were rock-hard and the pillows were comically small. Security is lax, with side doors that are supposed to be keycard-accessible left unlocked 24/7. The breakfast was bare-bones and unappetizing. The hair dryer in our room didn’t work, and the wheelchair access buttons on the front doors were broken—completely unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be accessible. But the worst part came on our third night. I went to the front desk to extend our stay and witnessed the same front desk woman screaming at another group in our party: a grandmother, her daughter, a 10-year-old girl, and their three well-behaved dogs (two small mixes and a lab mix). They had already stayed three nights, paid the $40-per-night pet fee each night, and had been transparent about the dogs from day one. Suddenly, the hotel staff accused them of trying to "sneak in" dogs and claimed—out of nowhere—that the fee was actually $40 per dog, per night and demanded $750 on the spot at 10:30 p.m. When asked to show this policy in writing, the employee smugly told them to “Google it.” The policy was nowhere to be found—not on the hotel website, nor the third-party booking site. To make matters worse, they called the police to try to forcibly remove them. The police declined, confirming no laws had been broken. You’d think that would be the end of the harassment, but the next day the hotel threatened to lock them out of their room if they didn’t pay up. They ended up finding another hotel for their final night—traumatized, exhausted, and humiliated. To treat any guest this way is disgraceful. To subject a child to this chaos is inexcusable. Do not stay here. Especially if you’re traveling with pets—or expect to be treated like a human being. P.S. There are stinkbugs.
The Daniella's Steakhouse which is the restaurant in the hotel is just the best. I took the tenderloin tips which a cup o Stag, cabernet Sauvignon which I recommend. Brian offered me a A1 service as a bartender and, his colleague Ally was super freindly, smiley, funny and, kind. I really feel like a usual known costumer and, I think it's the key to offer an awesome experience for the guests. The bed and the temperature in the room were perfect. I definitely will come back. Nothing. Even the breakfast was super good!
