Made our way up to Chincoteague Island on our eastern shore weekend trip. Enjoying brunch at Bill’s Prime and a Peach Melba (swipe to see). 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱? Mine would have to be French toast or waffles 🧇 If you’ve never been to Chincoteague Island it is peaceful and a quiet piece of paradise. Known for wild horses and a slower pace of life. If you’re not familiar with the book Misty by Marguerite Henry (written on the island) or seen the 1961 movie you might not know about this island’s unique tradition.👩‍🚒 Chincoteague Island’s fire department is know for its annual pony auction fundraiser where the saltwater cowboys go onto Assateague Island and head up the wild horses that roam there. The horses are vet checked and swim across Assateague Channel to Chincoteague Island where foals from the herd are auctioned off to the highest bidder. The proceeds go to future wild horse care and to the fire department. 🐴The adult ponies and a buy back foal (one bought to return to the island) are swam back to the island. The auction is canceled this year due to the pandemic, but the horses from the island have still been receiving vet checks. It is a spectacular event to watch and I have fond memories of going as a child. A visit to Chincoteague Island and Assateague is well worth the drive! We were lucky to see part of the heard in this distance this morning on Assateague (in my story).

If you’re looking for a hotel in Myrtle Beach, SC look no further than the @doubletreemyrtlebeach 🌊 The @doubletree was the host hotel for ETA the past week and it was such a lovely hotel to stay in. The location was central to grocery, dinning, night life and activities in the Myrtle Beach area. The room had a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and the @springmaidpiermb . Walking on the pier was free to hotel guests showing a room key card and $12 to go fishing on the pier. The beach is secluded in front of the hotel and I found a lot of shells and even a shark’s tooth! The hotel had great amenities like an on-site restaurant that I ate at twice for lunch and dinner. The menu had seafood options, sandwiches, soups, salads, flatbreads, desserts and a full bar. The view of the Atlantic Ocean was great from the tables. The hotel has several pools including children’s pools, a lazy river and an indoor heated pool. I enjoy staying at Double Tree Hilton because I can easily manage my stay and room key directly on their app. I travel a lot and one thing I hate is when I go to unlock my door and find the hotel key has deactivated and doesn’t work. Having to go to the lobby or call someone can be frustrating. I definitely don’t want to be standing outside my room waiting for someone to come fix my key while on vacation. This never happens at Double Tree with my in app room key. Staying at Double Tree Hilton always gives me a piece of mind especially if it’s a solo trip. Come for the Double Tree chocolate chip cookies…stay for the views🍪 🌊 #doubletreebyhilton #doubletreecookies #doubletree #doubletreemyrtlebeach #myrtlebeachhotels #placestostayinmyrtlebeach #visitsc #visitmyrtlebeach #grandstrand #hoteltravel #travelblogger #travelblog #travellover #thevirginiahypegirl #southcarolinabeaches #beachvacation #beachgirl #hotellobby #hoteladventures

The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort offers guests a unique camping experience in the heart of the WDW Resort. The resort compromises 700 wooded acres of cypress and pine forest and features around 800 campsites, each equipped with picnic tables, charcoal grills, and access to water and electrical hookups. The campsites available for guests are spread out on 21 camping loops and includes sites designed for tents, popup campers, full hookup sites and preferred or premium sites giving more room and a closer location to the amenities. It has been a dream to camp at Disney’s Fort Wilderness, but even after buying my own RV I really didn’t want the expense or hassle of traveling with it over 1,500 miles to WDW. Then I was introduced to RV Share. You can think of RV Share as an AirBnB, but for camping where you can rent someone else’s RV. There are many different RV choices to pick. For this trip I opted for delivery directly to the Campground at Disney’s Fort Wilderness so I didn’t have to worry with moving the unit around or setting anything up. I just wanted to arrive and checkin. Guests of the Campgrounds at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort can enjoy a variety of recreational activities, including horseback riding, fishing, and archery for a fee. Plus, the resort is just a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom entrance. One of my favorite things about this WDW Resort property was the private beach that over looked the Seven Seas Lagoon. Putting my feet in the sand and soaking in the warm Florida sunshine was a vacation in itself. In the evening from my same lounge chair I was able to watch the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom and the Electric Water Pageant . Watching the 50th Anniversary WDW Electrical Water Pageant from the beach was truly a magical experience. Camping at WDW is a dream and you can have it too even if you don’t own a RV by using rvshare.com . No matter what type of RV you choose camping at WDW will be memorable and fun. I am truly grateful to @rvshare for this experience! This was the first time staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and I really loved the Mexican theme and vibe. Our room had the cutest nod to the Three Caballeros and our bed was so comfy. Coronado Spring has multiple restaurants and dinning options on sight. The resort looked amazing. I really wish I would have been in better spirits to explore, take pictures and enjoy this resort more, but life happens. I actually spent more time in the resort bed than anywhere (at least it was comfy). No I’m not in this reel grinning ear to ear and I don’t have a ton of pictures or stories from this trip, but I remind myself it is still fun to share the travel experience of a new place. I can tell you the staff at Disney were amazing at helping me get medicine and to even loan me a wheelchair to go exploring when I was too dizzy to walk around. The staff were also, so sweet to accommodate my dietary needs and to have everything brought to the room. Disney service is unmatched and it’s one of the many reason my family has returned for over 30 years. I would definitely go back to Coronado Spring Resort and as a moderate resort the price in my opinion was great. I hope you like this little tour of the resort. I share my real life and sometimes health issues happen even during travel. This is a reminder that not everything we want or plan is going to come out how we expected. No one’s life is picture perfect and if you think it is you’re mistaken ☺️ Have you stayed at Disney’s Coronado Spring Resort before? #travelvirginia #floridaisbeautiful #wheretostay #travellernottourist #nexttravelgoals #coranadospringsresort #quitmyjobtotravel #travelenvy #disneygram #disneytravel #disneyworld #disneyhack #visitflorida #floridatourism #onlyinflorida #exploreflorida #travelflorida #hoteltour #pancreatitis #disneymoderateresort #nationaltourismweek #hoteltour

From the foodie looking to explore new restaurants, the fresh seafood lover or someone that enjoys fishing for your own dinner  Chincoteague Island, Virginia has you covered. The location makes it easy to get outdoors too and visitors can find a slower pace of life by walking or bike around breathing in the fresh sea breeze. There are a lot of choices when you’re looking at lodging in Chincoteague Island. The newest and one of the most unique choice for lodging in Chincoteague is the @keywestcottages . From the pastel hues and bay-front accommodations this new resort will bring a tropical vibe to your Chincoteague Island, Virginia vacation. During my trip I stayed in one of their Conch Cottages which was very roomy and had a stocked kitchen equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, blender, coffee maker, full refrigerator/freezer and small table.  In addition, this cottage had a sitting area with tv, separate bedroom with a queen bed and wall mounted tv along with a walk- in shower and ample storage space. The views of the Chincoteague Bay from the cottage and the sunset was spectacular. Key West Cottages was close to many local attractions and dinning. The resort has so many fun amenities though you don’t even have to leave. One of my favorite things about staying at the Key West Cottages was the ability to grill and dine in. The area outside the cottages had several Weber grills and grilling utensils for use. While staying I was able to go to the local grocery store for fresh fish and to grill for dinner. Furthermore there are several places nearby to launch your boat and charters available too if you want to catch your dinner. The cottage had a nice kitchen area for food preparation. Being able to stay in after a day of exploring or enjoying the private beach or pool was an added bonus of this beautiful location. Key West Cottages thought of everything and this area has something for everyone here. You are definitely going to want to plan a trip because wild horses, fresh seafood and nature are calling.  Full travel blog post at: http://takeawalkinmyflipflops.com/2023/07/01/visit-chincoteague-island-virginia/
