*This review is for THE CASTLE section of this resort* The Castle at Sanctuary Cap Cana is the most unique property in Punta Cana. The Sanctuary Cap Cana's complex is medium-sized. It has four room categories: Colonial Suites, Luxury Suites, The Villa Collection, and the Castle. Each category has a unique theme and design and multiple room types, such as beachfront suites, swim-outs, etc. You may use all the resort's amenities regardless of your room category, with some exceptions, like the ones in the castle, which are exclusive to castle guests. The complex has six pools, but our favorite was the castle pool overlooking the ocean. We booked a swim-out room and loved it. The room's interior maintains the castle theme, with stone walls and floors. The beach is the resort's weakest point, so if it is the most important thing to you, you might want to skip it. Macao Beach is one of our favorite beaches in the Dominican Republic, and the Dreams Macao is the ONLY hotel on this beach. Macao is gorgeous and offers a breathtaking view from the hotel. While the beach is Dreams Macao's highlight, the hotel is well-rounded. Our room was gorgeous, the food was very good, the entertainment team was active, and the lazy river was relaxing. The water park is more oriented toward kids. The main pool's design is somewhat strange. It has many shallow parts, which makes it difficult to walk and swim about. In addition, the volleyball net splits the pool in two. Two pools are reserved for club members only, leaving only one for regular guests. Depending on the price, we believe this hotel is worth an upgrade to club status so you can use all the pools on the property. We've been visiting Punta Cana resorts over the last two years with the goal of staying in all of them. The Dreams Onyx was the second resort we visited, and it still holds up when we compare it to the 27 others we've stayed in, even newer ones. It is located in Uvero Alto, so the beach is not its strong point. We loved the food at this resort, with few exceptions. Service was top-notch, and the room was gorgeous. The on-site waterpark with lazy river is a huge plus, as is the fact that you can use the facilities of its conjoined adults-only resort, Breathless Punta Cana. It's a quiet resort; entertainment is not a strong point of the Dreams Onyx. VALUE FOR THE MONEY 20/20 AMENITIES 18/20 FOOD 15/15 ROOM 15/15 BEACH 6/10 SERVICE 10/10 DRINKS 4/5 ENTERTAINMENT 1/5
