The mattress that was just a plank of wood wrapped in sheets the really poor communication from the host and the fact it was a completely different hostel that was advertised on booking

Close to the beach, the staff is friendly and the price is reasonable. the instructions were sent via WhatsApp and they were very clear. its a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. if youre staying in Hong Kong for more than 5 days I highly recommend spending a day here, the sea is 10 minutes away.

The location

While the place has potential, it is very mismanaged, no one seems to care about the paying guests. I arrived late in the evening (the hostel knew I would be late) and could not find the place which was not at the location they told me to get off the bus. The neighbours felled sorry for me and took me to the right location, in the dark. Even the locales could not find the place. Apparently, this is a common situation, the neighbours have already rescued several guests, out of kindness. No info with regards to WiFi, and NO power socket in the room. I called the management with their neighbour's mobile, and 3 times I was cut off when I told them who I was. Very dirty place. No staff anywhere to be seen during my entire stay. I had to find the staff at another location to make sure the payment went through. The shower curtain is sooo dirty, horrible, see picture. Not recommended at all, unless the management makes an effort cleaning the place and adequately care for their paying guests. I am considering taking the pictures I took to the tourism department. I am a permanant backpacker and I am easy, however being easy when one pays has limits. Reporting it is for future guest. Towels sanitation very questionable.

there is no one to talk to and no one will welcome you when you arrived and let you find your own room. we froze ourselves to death since it is still winter during our visit. not friendly and very far from the city. no foods nearby,.
