Bernard and Armille were fabulous hosts. We arrived and was warmly welcomed, our room had everything we needed and they were helpful regarding the area. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We booked dinner for the first night which was lovely and just what we needed after a day's travelling. I mentioned beforehand that I was a vegetarian with a nut allergy and they went to effort to provide a great meal. We felt as if we were staying with friends not hosts of the B&B. Highly recommend!
Everything was perfect :-)
A delightful, comfortable and characterful 2 night stay in a traditional French village house. The patron Bernard was most welcoming and hospitable and he and his wife provided a delicious dinner of local produce. Altogether an excellent chambers dhotes experience to be highly recommended.
The village is very nice and beautiful. The house is renovated with taste. The room was very comfortable and large, and the bathroom super clean. The breakfast was amazing.
The roads are very small, so it is hard to circulate with a car and the adress was hard to find with googlemaps.
The hosts were very friendly and accommodating

The B&B is beautifully decorated old style, breakfast is wonderful and our hosts are just amaizing, I would very much like to go back.
The scenery, the town and the towns around that area, it's close to other beautiful towns in the south of France
We felt comfortable from the moment of our arrival as Bernard was expecting us and explained the history of the place and also where we might eat. He also led us to secure parking at the rear entrance which was also the way up to our accommodation located separately upstairs. He insisted on helping us carry our luggage upstairs. We loved our room with seating area, Music Centre with a choice of CDs, kettle and tea/ coffee and view to the church tower and distant valley. The twin basins in the good sized bathroom with modern walk in shower and separate toilet all with good modern plumbing and nice toiletries was appreciated as was the small patio with table and chairs at the entrance. Bernard and Armelle invited us to join them for a drink and snacks in their covered beautifully planted out and decorated courtyard before we headed out to dinner in a nearby restaurant which they kindly booked for us. Bernard and Armel were warm, generous hosts and asked us when we might like a change of bed linen and towels. The rooms were so well ventilated everything dried very quickly and we managed to stay there incredibly comfortably for 4 nights. Bernard insisted on making us a French style bacon and egg breakfast on the Sunday and there was always fruit and yogurt on the table. Bernard recommended restaurants nearby and shared his knowledge of the local history. Our visit to the Auvergne was made extra special by staying at Chez Autre.
Chilhac is a beautifully historic village in a stunning region but with limited eating places. There is one restaurant which is really a bar, with tables outside where a limited menu is offered and we could not book as it was complet. There is also an picerie attached and a woman artisan baker has recently arrived in town. The campsite by the river says it can offer snacks eg pizza on a certain night but we did not actually see that. There are quite a few holiday places in the village so it had some buzz. Although access to our accommodation demanded careful attention through the garden and up some steep stairs, we liked it all so much we simply took our time. There are some restaurants within relatively easy reach serving excellent regional food.
