There were some areas of mould. I appreciate its a coastal front and can be very wet but in the downstairs rooms we didnt use, it did have a bit of a damp aroma.
We have rented this house a number of times because of the location. The views are amazing and the beach is wonderful and dog friendly. The location is really quiet and one of our favourite family holiday locations.
The cottage was clean but unfortunately it is no longer the cottage we first stayed at. The beds and mattresses are on the cheaper end of the scale and subsequently do not provide a restful night. The house has a balcony with amazing views but unfortunately only two chairs so we had to bring chairs from downstairs up to allow us all to sit out and enjoy the view and sunshine. The kitchen is limited in crockery and as we couldn't get the dishwasher to work, despite mentioning it to the caretaker, we had to wash up after every meal to have plates and bowls for the next meal. The price you pay is for the view as this is not a house worth over 1600 for a week in July. If you expect a 2/3 star house with an amazing view you won't be disappointed but if you are paying for the house you might be.
Location was stunning, overlooked the bay and we had a sun terrace which is a good feature to catch early morning or late evening sun. We liked that there were two bathrooms for the 4 of us and facilities such as fridge freezer, dishwasher if you prefer self catering. The kitchen is large and it has a large table. The lounge was on the upper floor, good TV and comfy sofa with views over the bay. There is a reasonable parking space where you can turn around and park. It looked as if it had recently been painted and everything felt clean. We loved the beach below, though be prepared for a work out climbing back up the cliff.
The access road is just off the A30 en route to lands end that has a great deal of traffic. The turn to the access road is fine during daylight but at night its not so easy in the darkwhen you may have vehicles behind. It needs some form of reflective posts to guide you in. You also have to time leaving or returning as there is a beach car park and the lanes are narrow. Due to the number on holiday it can be difficult to find restaurants locally so you need to pre-book. There are good supermarkets locally for those self catering. There is a beach walk down to the bay, only for the fit as the walk back is steep.
Lots of space in the house, fabulous uninterrupted views over the sea and so relaxing for a holiday, within easy reach of Sennen Cove and other beautiful coastal spots
