The gentleman who was checking us in was very friendly and professional. I think his demeanor set the tone for our stay. He acknowledged our celebration and gave us some local recommendations. He made us feel welcomed. Robe and slippers were a nice touch. Nice outdoor space to sit in the evening.
Not necessarily a minus, but the place is a revamped motel. The furnishings were modern and simple. It's still a plus. I wish the restaurant was open as it would be convenient. The air-conditioning was loud.
Super cool vibe, very quiet even during Movement weekend which was very nice. We brought our dog and there was no issues whatsoever. The staff was accommodating and kind. I had two separate reservations and they let us stay in the same room for the entirety of the trip. Close to restaurants and bars. Art was super cool, love the David Blair poem when you walk in. Oh yeah, awesome coffee too from 7am-11am at the coffee bar. It was an awesome stay and I will definitely return!
Staff was always available and helpful, loved the small touches in the hotel room like the bottle opener, song lyrics in the guest book, etc.
There were some small touches missing too like hooks/shelves in the shower for wash cloths, or the bedside lamps obviously being mounted for a king bed when the actual bed was queen sized..
1 out of 10 — Unsafe, Unprofessional, and Completely Negligent
I stayed at the Trumbull and Porter Hotel in Detroit from May 24-26, 2025, and it was an absolute nightmare. The hotel room had no carpeting — just bare, cold concrete floors — and a dangerously slippery bathtub with no anti-slip mat, textured surface, or safety handle. Earlier in the day, my guest slipped in the same shower, and later that evening, I fell, hit my head on the glass shower partition, lost consciousness, and severely sliced my toe. When I called the front desk for help, their response was laughable and infuriating — they gave me two tiny band-aids, a single alcohol wipe, and hand sanitizer, and made me come downstairs to get it myself while injured and bleeding. To make matters worse, they admitted there was no first aid kit in the entire hotel, which is a serious safety violation. One front desk worker even responded, “that’s cool” when I explained I’d fallen, hit my head, and lost consciousness in their room. I missed a concert I paid over $1,000 for because of this injury. I also asked for clean towels and new sheets after bleeding on the ones in my room — they gave me towels, took my number promising to follow up with clean sheets, and never did. When I checked again hours later, they said the maids would handle it in the morning — yet I was checking out at 11 a.m. I reported this to hotel management and requested a refund, but was completely dismissed. I’ve since filed a formal complaint with the Michigan Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
I liked the art work . The bar was nice and the outdoor area was nice with a fire pit cornhole etc. and it is also close to the everything downtown . There is a nice brewing co. Right across the street also !
I liked everything except the kitchen was not open yet !
Staff, parking
They don't have anything in the room that can boil water. Guests must go to the first floor and buy tea or coffee. Great business idea
