Boschfontein Mountain Lodge

I stayed at the Boschfontein Mountain lodge for one night, and once I saw the property I immediately regretted not booking a longer stay. Toni, the owner, was incredibly helpful and friendly, making the checking-in experience a breeze - this was made all the more remarkable given the fact that I made the booking last minute and she was not informed of my stay ahead of arrival. The lodge has everything one can possibly need for a comfortable stay, including an amazingly designed braai (bbq) in the center of the dining area, more than enough cutlery and seating space, and the owners' very friendly dogs to keep you company :). The bed was super comfy and everything was clean, neat and tidy. If my review ended here it would have already warranted a 5 star rating. However, the view from the property, of the Maluti mountains and the valley below, as well as the peace, quiet and serenity of the property are what really sets it apart from most places I have stayed at in that part of the world. This is mainly due to the fact that the lodge was built at the foot of the mountain that envelops the farm, and therefore provides an amazing vantage point from which to survey the scenery below. This also means it's quite easy to hike up the mountain for a 360 degree view of the wonderful Easter Free State landscape. I genuinely, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Boschfontein Mountain Lodge and can absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a few nights' rest in the area. PS; Just 1 thing to note: The road up to the lodge requires a car with a high clearance, otherwise Toni or Morgan will have to take guests up to the property in their Land Rover (which I'm sure is not a problem).

Breath-taking location. Outstanding vistas into Lesotho. Great hospitality from the Owners, Morgan & Toni Barrett.

The access road up to Lodge can be problematic in wet weather and a 4x4 vehicle is essential. The owners of the Lodge will assist guests up to the Lodge should their vehicle be unable to access / descend down from the Lodge.

Beautiful views, secluded location, good bird life. Lodge is well kitted with a great central fire. Toni was really helpful during our stay, and we loved the dogs visiting.

Access to the lodge requires at least a high clearance vehicle, but preferably a 4x4 , which we werent aware of. Very wet conditions did not help access.

Incredible views and fantastic lounge/kitchen area.

Best for group to book out entire space. Difficult to share kitchen/lounge area is separate groups.
