It was the good location to stroll around The Old Montreal.
Location and comfort
The location was great, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed, and had nearly everything I'd expect.
The breakfast the first day wasn't good (dried eggs, and overcooked sausage rounds), but the other two days were good. The pool was very cold despite being indoors. The bed was lumpy and not particularly comfortable. The room didn't have USB charging ports and required wall warts (charger plugs). AC was window-mounted and quite loud.
Apart from the location, the Hotel was Fair. The rooms were small, the carpet was ugly and damp, the A/C was inefficient, the room was always warm vs cool, given the A/c was ON All the time, the breakfast was basic and not varied, the coffee was bad, and it was expensive. And, the dumpster next to entrance was oh so pretty to see everyday.
Staff was gracious and helpful. Location was excellent, close to the action but on a side street so it was quiet. Room was clean and well appointed. Bed’s were super comfortable. We were 4 people, parents of 2 teens. We had a superior king suite, which is basically 3 rooms, perfect size so each teen slept in their own area and we parents got the comfy king. Room had a fridge and microwave as well as a bar sink that came in handy. Desk area was great too. Good amount of outlets at the desk. One night we were too exhausted to go out to dinner so we brought in take away and had a relaxing evening on the large L-shaped couch in the room using the coffee table. It was nice to put the leftovers in the fridge and use the microwave to reheat later. The breakfast buffet was really great to have that included in the price. We loved something’s about the buffet, and others could be improved. Breakfast, croissants were great but the eggs were way, way overcooked each day. Unlimited food though, yogurt, toast, bagels, English muffins, fresh fruit salad, all that was just great. Each day had a different meat item, sausage, bacon, sausage patties, these were cooked but not browned, always looked anemic. Tasted ok but would have preferred seared a little. Also, nice to put coffee, juice and croissants on a tray and take back to the room to relax. This was such a treat. Coffee maker for tea and coffee in room was also a nice touch as is the ice machine on the 1st floor so we could fill our water bottles with ice before heading out for the day. We would definitely stay here again.
View was not great, just back of a building. Would have liked an outlet near the bed to plug in chargers. One AC unit was great. The other (older) one sounded like a jet engine (even on low) and never seemed to actually cool things down.Mostly we shut it off and made do with the newer one. $36 a night is not unreasonable to park a car in the city, it was just a surprise after I made the booking. We had looked forward to relaxing swim after walking around all day but Pool was tiny, we ended up not using it at all. Fitness room was ok, our teen son used it, said it was adequate.
