FukuokaThe apartment was a lot bigger than expected. It was fairly homey and quite clean. It was in a very quiet area.
The location was a bit awkward and required walking to and from Hakata station or the other nearby stations. The upper bunk bed squeaked with any slight movement which can be very annoying.
Room quite nice and modern Washing machine exists
Self -CheckIn was at 4pm, but as we arrived 1,5h before, we asked for early CheckIn, which they did decline- the website says, its possible for a charge- they said the room is not clean yet. We saw cleaning staff later, so they quite obviously just cleaned 1h before - even though the Checkout is at 11am. The iPad you get your roomcode from is programmed to not give it away before 4pm. Theres no lobby or any Caf/ other place around to wait and nothing to put the luggage. So we had to wait and sit outside, basically on the street; surrounding of the house is quite dirty. Bed situation a bit strange, also limited space for luggage if its more than 2 people. Kitchen is barely equipped- no chopsticks, no bowls, no spoons, no plates. No detergent for washing machine. No space for hanging clothes to dry. There were a lot of long black hairs in toilet room and on the floor/ carpet; some stains on the bed sheets. All in all we were glad it was quite cheap for Japan, but theres definitely a lot of need for improvement.
The room was clean and nice. There was enough space for me and my friends.
They dont have a proper parking and access to the property by car is a little bit difficult.
It is in a quiet area but still close to the city centre.
It wasn't very clean. The mat beds were not the most comfortable. Fans were provided - for the upstairs sleeping area - but there were no power points to plug them in to.
Pros: at first, we were impressed by the spaciousness and tasteful decor, working tv, hot bath. Nice to have a washing machine to clean our clothes. Location is pretty convenient with just a short walk to the metro and a cute market nearby. The main reason we booked is for the cheap price, cheaper than booking two hostel beds for us both.
Cons: filthy - there was blood stains on the futon, and when I moved the sofa the amount of dust and hairs underneath made it clear it had never been cleaned under there. We are not "clean freaks" but it was really filthy. This is clearly a just a moneymaking project for the owner, nothing more, no level of care shown to the cleanliness or comfort. Also, terrible ventilation, the upper mezzanine was unusable as it was a heat trap, the aircon doesn't reach rendering half of the room unusable. Aircon was also possibly full of dust as we both left our stay sneezing and feeling generally unwell. Cheap, but wouldn't stay again.
Nicely designed flat with living room / dormitory, kitchen, toilet, and seperate bathroom with bathtub and washing machine. The main room has a TV, small table and bunk bed. It also has a mezzanine with various futons and bed sheets. Hakata station is around 20 minutes walk. The area is quiet. Check-in was possible even late at night because its a self check-in via tablet. At the end of the process you get a code to open the door. For us it was convenient, but on the other hand it means you shouldnt be intimidatet by having to do the check-in yourself electronically.
Something that could be changed easily and would make for whole different experience: equippment. Fortunately we had some camping cortulary with us, because if not, we wouldn't have had any benefit of the kitchen. It was still difficult because we had to eat from cups as there where no plates available. Similarly, there was a washing machine but no detergent. We were told about the possibility of later check-out, but it turned out that you have to pay for it even if its just 30 minutes. There was no possibility to store luggage after check-out. The flat is in a residential area, which means there is not too much to do in the direkt surroundings. Maybe important to know for some people: you reach the flat by stairs and theres no elevator. I still give a high score because we had a beautiful flat on our own for the price of a small hotel room anywhere else.
Room is comfortable. Washing machine, shampoo, conditioner and towel provided. Walking within 10 mins to Yoshizuka Station. Taxi to airport is about JPY1450. Value for money.
No sockets and a bit hot in the attic.
Big space, easy check-in process, accomodating staff
