HiloThe location worked well for me. The space was comfortable and pleasant, as was the setting. Easy parking. Good bed. Well informed about how to get help if needed. Not needed.
Took me a hot second to figure out I had to press the "Schlag" button on the keypad before punching in the code, but that's probably just my own lack of experience. It was not immediately obvious which side of the property I should enter on or where to park, but I asked the helpful grounds keeper and figured it out quite quickly. The open shower design got much of the bathroom floor wet which is fine, except that I have a bum knee and the slippery surface required a lot of care to traverse. Might be challenging for older folks, too.
Basic but clean. Covered parking, window AC unit with a ceiling fan, large bathroom, comfortable bed, beaches half a block, easy drive to volcano eruptions. Would stay there again.
My wife and I loved our stay in this spacious well equipped cottage (#4). The wrap around lanai let us enjoy the lush backyard with privacy. The property is outside of downtown Hilo in a nice neighborhood A huge plus was being able to walk to a charming local beach at the end of the road. Tide pools had some fish and we saw whale spouts from the shore. The drive into Hilo was no problem.
We liked the atmosphere. We had two adjacent rooms and a shared balcony. The yard is big with a table where we had breakfast and dinner. The location was great. The room was relatively spacious.
The kitchen could be better maintained and could be better equipped. It should also be better cleaned. For what we got the price was high.
Location was good-- within walking distance of a very small beach. We stayed in one of the bungalows. It was quite spacious. Kitchen facilities were adequate. Stay was pleasant. The person who takes care of the cottages gave us tips about visiting some places on the island.
The air conditioner was very, very loud. Also, it kept on cycling on and off rather frequently, so much so that I kept on waking up repeatedly. It probably needs some tuning. It took a long time for the hot water to get hot. The first person of our party of three took a cold shower because she thought there was no hot water. More information with parking would be useful. We parked on grass on two of three nights since there was not enough place in the carports. When the electric fuse of our room tripped , we had to contact the caretaker. He came out and told us that we had parked under a coconut palm, and showed a safe place, also on grass. A falling coconut could have damaged the car. Not knowing this, we had parked the car at the same place the previous night.
Location
Walls are pretty thin, we could hear people next door, and could hear the just giving people a tour
Second time staying at Aaron's and it didn't disappoint. Our family rented 4 rooms and found the rooms comfortable for our group. We used the kitchen usually twice a day for breakfast and dinner and that worked well. Everyone loved the local beach and we could see whales right from shore which was a treat. Josh (the manager) was on property and very helpful. It's our go to for Hilo stays.
