### Review of YO1 Resort I recently stayed at YO1 from November 9 to November 10, 2024, and I regret to say that my experience was quite disappointing, especially given the high cost of the stay. **Pros:** The resort is located in beautiful surroundings and features a stunning interior that created a positive first impression. The front desk staff were exceptionally kind and apologetic, doing their best to assist us during our visit. **Cons:** 1. **Canceled Activities:** One of the main reasons we chose YO1 was the advertised yoga sessions and spa facilities. We were eagerly looking forward to participating, but both yoga sessions were unexpectedly canceled without any prior notice. This lack of communication was frustrating and disrupted our plans for relaxation and wellness. 2. **Dining Experience:** The dining options were underwhelming. When I ordered food to go, I was disappointed to find that my soup container was only half full. Additionally, there was a very limited beverage selection, with only one glass of wine available, which did not meet the high-end experience we expected. 3. **Facility Maintenance:** Several aspects of the resort were in need of serious attention. The bathrooms, especially in the men's locker room, were unclean, with multiple toilets out of order. I found myself looking around for a key or a particular size slipper to lock my things up, but there was no one around to assist. This left me feeling quite frustrated, especially since all the slippers available were size 5, which didn’t fit me or many of the guests. Furthermore, the cold plunge pool was not cold, and the Jacuzzi in the pool area was also cold and poorly maintained. When I inquired with the lifeguard about raising the temperature, they seemed unaware of how to address the issue, which was disappointing.
The breakfast was good. The dinner was too expensive - the soup was great! The facility was clean. We enjoyed the massage, steam room, hottub, and game room. The bed was comfortable but the pillows too soft.
The resort was practically empty - apart from 2 other couples we were alone, I didn't mind the quietness, however, my husband hated that there were not more people around
The privacy
The food
Beautiful setting, but hotel has a cold, sterile feeling. The room was beautiful, with a view of the lake, steam shower, separate massage suite. Hotel felt medicinal (in a bad way).
Facility is cold and sterile, there are noticeable stains on the carpets, a garbage can is placed outside the elevator to catch water. There is a very obvious lack of attention to detail throughout the property. The staff is friendly but unhelpful and not in tune. The yoga classes are cancelled without notice, the classes them selves are fairly pedestrian and certainly not for serious practitioners of yoga. For the neti Kirya no staff showed up for, so we utilized the neti pots and saltwater and did our own thing. The therapy pricing was way too high and after reading some online reviews about inappropriate behavior we opted out. We purchased the full meal package. The food was obviously food service, frozen veggies, frozen vegan meatballs etc. Everything was over salted. The Indian curry vegetables were offered for lunch and dinner both days, with differing narrative on the menu, but exactly the same food, presented slightly differently on the plate/bowl. The veggies were clearly a frozen vegetable mix you could get at Costco. Breakfast buffet was decent, the coffee was bitter and undrinkable. If you are expecting Ayurvedic food, which the website implies, you will be disappointed. The menu is largely vegan and gluten free, but offering lots of highly processed faux meat options. The pool and spa area were very nice, but again attention to detail was lacking. The locker rooms were not well maintained, but on the surface looked modern and clean, deeper observation was not kind. You feel like you’ve walked into someone’s dream Ayurvedic resort that has never fulfilled the dream and is slowly decaying. Frankly we felt that the disconnect between the website and reality was a scam, we decided we would enjoy our home and local yoga studio more, and checked out a day early
The lake is really stunning
The hotel had some quirks to it. Very spotty wifi etc. What is worth calling out is that for a “longevity retreat” the food did not seem fresh. They served eggo waffles and store bought pastries which are not the healthiest options.
Free yoga class, swimming pool, activity room, breakfast included
Building did not feel warm & cozy, felt sterile. Very friendly and nice staff despite low occupancy. Not many other guests in a gigantic hotel. Lighting was very bright in hallways. No flowers anywhere. Very strict about checkout time despite paying usd 400 per night. Room was great but with strange definition of luxury, as a Japanese toilet seat is standard but there is no choice in alternative pillows at all.
My fourth time back and everything. It's as good as the first time
Getting a little bit too expensive.
