I have stayed at this hotel on several occassions over the past 3 years and there is one thing that has not changed. Its that Dining room staff are not friendly.

I liked the indoor pool area, which was a good size and great for kids. It was also nice to have a sauna. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel was just OK, nothing terrible, but also nothing amazing. I was disappointed because were were paying 200 a night and I have stayed at other Pestana hotels before, which in my opinion were of a higher standard. We stayed in a family mezzanine suite, it was described online as "spacious", I agree that it would have been for 2 people, but for a family of 4 it is quite cramped given that the sofa bed takes up the lounge area. Other things that I was disappointed in are 1) No kettle in the room 2) the steam room and sauna are quite small, the steam room fits only 4 people, so if it's busy you won't get to use it. 3) There wasn't enough crockery of cutlery in the kitchenette, we had one knife, two forks and two spoons, 2 small plates and one big one. 4) The breakfast was just OK, other similar priced places I have stayed at usually have an option of fresh cooked dishes, e.g. omelettes, pancakes etc. There was nothing like that.

Location

Old, not very clean, food in the restaurant of a bad quality, leaking shower. Outside very loud pool which made not possible to sit relax at the balcony or even have an open balcony . The noise was very disturbing.

Spacious room, amazing swimming pools (outdoor and indoor), quiet surroundings. The breakfast is great with a wide variety of food and drinks.

The bed was just not comfortable, Im afraid. For a 4* hotel I would expect better. The room doors are super loud to close, I was woken up a couple of early mornings by other guests leaving their room.
