rien
We have been regular users of this hotel (for last 5 years) on our journeys back to London from South of France. Although a bit shabby, its location and and on-site restaurant has made it a good stop-over hotel for us. This year everything was poor - our room, the food in the restaurant and the staff. This hotel requires a complete update and overhaul. Only the breakfast remained good.
We were allocated a wheelchair access room even though we did not request or require one. Very unpleasant to use given that we do not need handrails, lowered sinks, adapted shower or a shower stool. We were not advised of this when we checked in (and maybe it was because the hotel was very busy) but we should have been told the room was not the one we had booked (standard double). The quality of the food served in the restaurant was awful and the staff were inattentive (we were left without a pudding we had ordered and then told there were none left). When we complained about the incomplete meal (which we had paid for in advance when we booked) the staff thought it was very funny we were miffed about a missing 'creme brle' and refused to provide a refund. They were very unprofessional and behaved like school interns - the adults were clearly on leave that evening! Bedding in our room did not smell fresh - smelled of cooking/bacon
Able to walk into city
Room had not been cleaned under the bed as found old chips and paper when happened to drop money and looked under bed! Also noisy maintenance work being undertaken during stay.
Great friendly staff who did all they could to make our stay a great one. The food was really good, well cooked & presented with great service. The staff make the place great.
The facilities are very dated and while the rooms are comfortable and warm they are small & in need of refurbishment.
