CowesI liked the privacy above all and very much enjoyed a wander round Arreton Barns. I'd been worried it might be noisy but it was quiet at all times.
There was no freezer compartment of any kind There was no way of making ice or keeping frozen foods. I could easily have managed without the dishwasher and washing machine and it is a pity space hadn't been allocated for some kind of small freezer.
The central location was ideal for exploring the island, huge added bonus with a red squirrel showing up in the garden each morning, attractions on site looked good. the Farm shop was convenient for milk and bread. The kitchen was well laid out, and was okay for microwave and small meals, but I suspect most people would be eating out at the various local and sea side eating attractions. we preferred Ryde and Cowes. The garden was full of birds including a robin and I suspect sitting out on the garden in the summer with a drink would be great. Plenty of cutlery and plates, and really clean.
At this time of year (early March) many IOW premises closed early, but it look like Arreton Barns is locked up and closed at 9pm throughout the season, which meant we had to park in the lane, not the allocated space. The TV did not offer on-demand, and the lighting was very dark in the lounge, which would have been a push for space with the 5 person sleeping capacity. The kitchen could have done with more frying pans, as doing a full breakfast was tricky.
The cottage was small but perfect. Clean and thoughtfully furnished. Local facilities were excellent. And we even saw red squirrels in the garden!
