Bar HarborBreakfast was great, and with a lovely view.
Aging facilities.
The location is great. Its very close to Acadia National Park. The building is historic. It is quite charming and you can still see remnants of its former glory days.
Everything could have been better. The staff has absolutely no idea what customer service means. No idea whatsoever! The restaurant food was mediocre but the service at the restaurant was bad; unhelpful and unfriendly. No housekeeping was available. If we wanted anything (towels, extra soap, etc), we were told we had to go to the front desk to pick it up ourselves. Breakfast was also mediocre at best. We got a room on the last floor which meant we had to bring everything up 3 flights of stairs as there is no elevator. The room was old and worn out and in desperate need of renovation. The entire area lost power due to a storm, so the hotel was plugged into total darkness. Our floor (3rd floor) didnt have the luxury of any emergency lights or even fluorescent indicators so that guests wouldnt trip down the stairs. Only the other floors got the emergency lights. When We asked about this, they told us, but they didnt have enough lights. No apologies whatsoever. Glad theyre going to be closed for renovations maybe the new owners will do better at managing the place.
Nice ambiance.
Bed very uncomfortable, no way to turn light on in the bathroom from inside the bathroom so it wakes the other person up, not enough outlets, no ceiling fan so the room was stuffy.
Beautiful property overlooking the water. Decent continental breakfast.
We paid over $400 a night in September for a big disappointment! No elevators available to guests. We had to lug our 50lb. suitcases up a flight of stairs to get to our room. Beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Outdated room and tiny bathroom. No A/C- just a fan in the window.
Quaint old inn and Great, Location
Solely in need of updating, which I understand will be done next year. Many things were left over from the 50s, such as walking up three flights of stairs
Breakfast was good, place was very quiet at night, all staff members were helpful, great view from dining room and terrace.
No TV, no telephones, tiny elevator (to be operated only by staff), no central heat or A/C on 4th floor, inadequate parking. After a failed attempt to book a reservation directly, I was able to book the same reservation on line with a service. This cost me an additional $80+ which is not to my liking.
Location and staff are wonderful
Room needs updating. Bathroom sink cracked and no where to put things. No shelves or drawers. Pillows were small hard squares.
Lovely location
Dated , they know and are closing for refurbishing. Beds uncomfortable
