The apartment was spacious, well designed, views of the mountains & beach, the restaurant had room service & the food was great. It is a big resort with 3 pools, lots of activities & a sales office. The beach (true for most of the Oaxaca coast) had big waves so no swimming. But the pools were great - one had a slide & volleyball net, another had the bar.
The infinity pools and beach were really beautiful. Pristine, white-sand beach. Great gym, library and games room. Saw so many whales, pelicans and jumping matarays all from the pool/beach.
The hotel has fallen on hard times financially and they need to train their staff in customer service. I paid 600 CAD/night for a 3 night stay (1800 CAD total) which is the most I have ever spent on a hotel, it was a real treat for myself and I expected something special. We arrived at 5pm and were told our room was not ready, when taken to the room we saw we'd been downgraded. I had to go back to reception to raise this (our phone did not work and neither did the wifi) and they said the room we booked wasn't available as the aircon was broken. They then lied saying the room they'd put us in instead was more expensive. I had to pull it up on booking.com to prove they had put me in a cheaper room, then they said "well it's the only one available so nothing we can do". They offered nothing compensation wise, I had to contact booking.com to ask them to support me. We woke up the next day to no water at all, we could not wash our hands, or drink or have a shower. My partner went to reception and they said "oh yes the water is off for maintenance it should be back about 12noon" very matter of fact, no apology. My partner had to take a jug down to the restaurant to be able to have some drinking water. They then agreed to put us in a new room, which had the most incredible outdoor space and view however it had clearly fallen on hard times, lots of stuff was broken and really rusted. The hob did not work since the igniter was broken, and when we asked reception for a lighter or something, we were told we would have to buy one ourself which we did. Little things like the room being advertised as having a dishwasher, yet they provide no dishwasher tablets or have them in the shop. Everytime we spoke to reception they made us feel like we were just a pain in their butt which is not how you expect to be made to feel when you are raising legitimate issues.
The food was very good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Clean rooms.
Very slow service both checking in and out, despite that it was prepaid. Breakfast included but had to spend 40 min in the end cleaning up the bill, and I did ask the first day if I had to do something and aslo talked to them the day before checkout. The beachtowel situation was a bit weird, really that many that steal them so its needed to have this system in place? Not enough sunbeds, it was not allowed to mark ones spot but if one didnt there was no sunbeds available. Looked like everyone had a designated person that was up at 7am (or even before that) to mark the chairs. I did not appreciate the guests that had their beachcars drivng back and fort a long the beach playing loud music driving in a high speed.
I liked Oscar the view and ocean
30 minutes away from any city made it extremely hard and expensive to leave the resort the only store didnt even have basic food to make a actual meal and all the food was over 400 each meal
The location is very good, on the beach, remote from the city, very calm. The room was spacious, well equipped kitchen, big balcony facing the ocean. Room service available, with good speed of service. On site mini-market is a good option, because the city is rather far and delivery services are not available.
Wi-Fi asks to reconnect too many times a day, which is specifically annoying when trying to watch a movie. Cleaning is daily but the quality of it has some field for improvement. Food in the restaurant is unstable - the same dish can be very good on one day and awful on the other.
Had a 4 bedroom apartment very well equipped for a family stay. Right on the beach. The resort was almost empty so enjoyed the peace and quiet. Ocean is rough so used the pools which are excellent. 2 fo 1 Happy Hour at the poolside bar was great.
