Decent location and sufficiently large rooms
Wash rooms need painting and cleaning staff opened the room by mistake
The room was very spacious, and there was an actual bath (not just shower). The staff kindly gave me some ice from the bar to bring up (sore foot is helped by ice before bed)
A few things detracted from the stay. 1) MY fault that I didn't check properly but it was a long way from the station, so it's better for drivers than train travellers 2) a bit of bad luck I guess but when I arrived tired, stressed and 3 hours late (thanks Deutsche Bahn!) there was no one at reception so had to just stand there for 10 minutes not knowing if someone was coming 3) the rooms may be soundproofed but if the idiot family in the next room slam the door every time one of them goes in and out for breakfast, the soundproof walls don't mean much 4) arriving v late I thought I might just watch TV but after scrolling through 157 shopping channels and austrian folk music channels and films dubbed into German I realised there was nothing I could enjoy. Ended up watching a Turkish news channel broadcasting in English. 5) I thought there was a roof deck (from photos) and decided to have a light breakfast out there with a cup of tea but it turns out to be 1st floor surrounded by rooms on all sides and where all the smokers go to puff away, so not my idea of a private, pleasant place to start the day 6) I guess Austria in general and Salzburg in particular are in high demand and particularly so on a 3 day weekend but I paid more per night to stay here than in any other place in the last two years of extensive travels. And it was far from being my happiest experience. Sorry to be so harsh. I am not even saying it's a bad place or anything, just that it didn't work out great for me.
I did not like anything. The decor is bad. The shower only has opaque glass. The toilet area only has opaque glass. I would not consider this a Best Western PLUS. It would rate as the quality of a Motel 6 at a Best Western PLUS price.
