2nd Avenue Beachside Apartments

The view from our window was absolutely amazing

The rooms are very outdated and need new dishwashers and washing machines the mould put us off I understand the weather can cause this but its in the inside of the appliances, the bed were very hard I had to use blankets to layer on the single bed so the kids were comfortable a plush pillow top mattress or overlay would be great as it was quite expensive to stay at.

Cleanliness and the friendly staff.

The noise from the road works but this was not their fault and was beyond their control.

Location

The car parking was a problem as our allocated space was occupied. And we had the same problem with other spaces we were give on two more occasions.

The view

We booked this accommodation 7 months before we travelled and despite the works having started before we made our booking we were only informed a month before we left that there would be 'building works' during our stay (too late to book anything else decent as it was the school holiday period). On the first working week day of our stay the noise started at around 6.30am with the outside lift going directly past the bedroom windows. At about 8am the builders started with a tango (jack hammer) on the apartment directly above the one we had been allocated at a sickening level of noise (at least 120 decibels). We couldn't even hear each other speak while standing next to each other in the room, the noise level was literally nauseating and we were informed was going to go all day. There was absolutely no warning that this amount of noise was going to happen, we complained to the reception but they didn't care much, saying it only happened once every two weeks and the builders hadn't told them they would be doing it on that day. Every subsequent week day after this the lift started going before 7am and there was at least some jack hammering (though not to the level of the first day) noise. During our stay we wrote an email to the management and complained to the reception more than once, but there was no action, just buck passing and excuses. Unfortunately the noise and lack of care from the management wasn't the only issue we experienced during our stay. The Internet connection was terrible, dropping in and out constantly and barely working in the bedrooms. The TV also stopped working on the second day we were there and as it was a weekend the only advice we got was to turn it off at the wall and try again...

The location , the view was fantastic.

Some of the curtains were hanging off. The shelf and vent near shelf in the laundry were filthy. Could not get normal TV but was happy enough with movies.

The view was amazing, the apartments were spacious.

The apartments are very dated, dont appear to have changed since I was there 30 years ago. Cracked tiles, mismatched toilet seats, shower heads were terrible, broken toilet roll holderthey definitely need updating. The outside spa wasnt working. The renovations do impact your stay, the jack hammering was horrendous, the workmen begin very early, so no sleep ins. You dont have full access to the gardens and outside entertaining area. We were given one months notice of the renovations happening, not enough time to find alternative accommodation, and the email didnt give a true indication of the impact of the works.
