3 MUST-SEE WATERFALLS IN ICELAND ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ“ Skogafoss - This massive 62 meter (200 ft) high and 25 meter (82 feet) wide waterfall is located along the southern coast of Iceland. Just a 2 hour drive from Reykjavik, it's easily accesible by car. - This is also a great spot to spend the night if you plan on camping during your trip. - Legend has it that a chest of gold is hidden behind the waterfall by a Viking settler named Tharsi Thorolfsson. ๐Ÿ“ Haifoss - Towering at a height of 122 meters (400 ft), this is one of Iceland's tallest waterfalls. - Getting to this one requires a bit more effort and driving along a dirt road for about 7 km. The gravel road was in pretty good shape. We came across all kinds of vehicles in the parking lot from tiny cars to larger campers. - You can view the falls from a path very close to the parking lot or you can follow the trail down the hill to get to the bottom and see the falls up close. There were a lot of people at the top and we only met one other person hiking to the bottom. It was well worth it! ๐Ÿ“ Kvernufoss - Neighbor to Skogafoss, these falls offer a much quieter experience. You park near the Skoga Cultural Heritage Museum and follow the trail for around 20 minutes. - It's a smaller waterfall at 30 meters (98 ft) tall but it's no less impressive. We loved being able to enjoy the falls with fewer people and that you're able to explore behind it similarly to Seljalandsfoss. - As with visiting Iceland in general, waterproof clothing is recommended! Which waterfall do you want to see first??
