We spent one night at the Holiday Inn Express Anchorage. It was the most affordable hotel we could find in Anchorage. It cost USD $340 AUD $505 per night - other downtown hotels ranged from over USD $800 per night. It is a 5 minute drive from Downtown, right near Ted Stevens International Airport. While It was affordable in comparison with other hotels, it was mediocre. It's really an old Motel rather than a Hotel. Its old and shabby and the staff seem disinterested, shabbily dressed and often clueless. The room was big and bed comfortable, but the the air conditioner was noisy. The bathroom was functional and clean but old and tired with loose tiles on the floor. Make sure you book a room on the quite side of the hotel as it is near two airports, the main international airport and the world's busiest sea plane airport. The complimentary breakfast was megre with few Gluten Free options. The hotel features a complimentary shuttle bus to the airport as well as small shop where you can buy drinks and snacks. It was far cheaper than other hotels in Anchorage but not cheerful! Overall a two star hotel with a 3/5 experience.
