The bathroom was okay and the bed was comfortable.
The windows were very narrow, giving very little natural light. Accross the road was a building site, and due to poor insulation, it was very noisy inside the room with the windows closed. No breakfast on site and the caf opposite the road was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we had to walk half a mile looking for breakfast!. The coffee machine inside was antiquated. Even their Spa facilities were closer on Mondays and Tuesdays! The reception staff was frequently absent from the front desk leaving a note to call them if needed.. We were very disappointed, definitely not of a 5* standard!!.. we stayed in 3* hotels of a much better standard.
Great hotel and only a short walk into the main centre of town
Nice design.
We reserved 3 nights only available on booking site but wanted to add another night. Sent a number of messages to property that never replied. One additional night became available on booking site so booked a separate booking to extend our stay. Previous comments made for our stay apply to this additional night.
The bed was extremely comfortable! We were in Maine a week traveling along the coast, staying at a different place each night. The bed at The Francis was the most comfortable of them all. We also enjoyed the bathroom, big, sparkling clean, and the shower was absolutely inviting.
We couldnt change the temperature in our room. We tried the wall thermostat and the remote. Nothing we did changed the temperature.
Absolutely beautiful historical building! There are some great places to eat nearby and the most amazing bakery (Tandem Bakery) directly across the street. The neighborhood is a little bit seedy.
We had a really nice big room but it had very little furniture in there. It could use another chest of drawers as we really didnt have any place to put the clothing for two people.
