South Lake TahoeStayed here recently for my friend’s birthday. It was a group of nine of us that traveled together. The staff and everyone at the Landing were so nice and super friendly. We mainly talked to Charles, Jason, Ben, Nolan, Mel, and Sarafina. Everyone was super nice and treated us like family. I seriously can’t say enough amazing things about everyone here. I felt like they added such a personable touch with the shuttle and letting us know to call ahead and they would pick us up anywhere within a 2 mile range. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Tahoe.
Nothing. We throughly enjoyed our trip and will definitely be back.
The location
I don’t know where to begin as this hotel has so many problems. The images on their website are extremely deceptive. The hotel highlights that they are located directly on a Lake Tahoe beach. What they failed to mention is that this is a private beach and is completely gated by an iron fence. It is owned and operated by an HOA and although the hotel provides guests with a daily pass, it has strict opening and closing times. In front of the gate are parking spaces. I booked a lakefront room and was allocated a ground floor room with an outside small patio. The room was dark, musty and very cramped. Worse of all though was the fact that I had no view of the lake but instead I had a view of parked cars and the beach fence. When I walked outside after checking i, I had difficulty finding my room as I had to first wade through areas filled with old furniture and fixtures which were being stored. After seeing my room, I went back to reception and complained about my lake view room. As an alternative, they offered me a 3rd floor ADA room which was larger but had no view. I stayed in this room for 3 days but found it was not clean and was long overdue for refurbishment. Don’t be fooled by the misleading photos on their website. This hotel is probably a 3 star at most. This hotel is outdated and needs to be renovated. Most of the staff appear to be summer hires and provide poor service. There does not appear to be to be a Manager of the hotel. The hotel robes in my room were ancient and had holes and piling. The chair cushions in my room had big stains.
Nice view if the Beach is not full
There is a door between our room to the room next to us , very bad
A really good hotel, comfortable and spacious rooms, nice pool area, and just near the beach. Super friendly staff that goes above and beyond. Food at the restaurant is good, although a bit limited options. Free bikes are available to guests, but in all honesty, they are in such poor condition that you can’t drive much more than a few miles from the hotel.
Parking charges - which we weren’t aware of - are really high. 30$+tax while there’s plenty of free street parking is absolutely unacceptable. As a minimum, you should explicitly ask your guests in advance if they want to use it and explain the cost and the alternatives. No breakfast included, but we knew that.
