We stayed at the cottage and the location is in the city center. Very close to the coop and walking distance to the nice viewpoints
There’s no parking space and the stairs going up is squeaky.
Lovely large room. Nice view. Tasty breakfast with lovely unexpected extras.
The bed was a little sunken. And lots of stairs to the top rooms.
I have never given a bad review before. Ever. But this hotel deserved it. Receptionist was lovely. Room was okay. We had a quad as that was all that was left but for £430 I don't expect the bathroom door to have a panel fix of metal plate over where they had clearly smashed it in before. For that money I expect a new door to have been installed. It all felt just a little tired and unloved. Breakfast was cold. I had avocado with poached eggs on sourdough. The eggs were cold. So were my husbands on his Full Scottish. And the bizarre concept of a plate of 2 croissants, a jar of bircher and a jar of yoghurt for us to share but nothing to spoon them into. I don't particularly want to dig into the same pot as someone else. I had been looking forward to the meal the previous night in their restaurant. The gentleman who showed us to our seat was very pleasant but, after I had picked salad off my seat to sit down and peeled my arms off the sticky table it went downhill from there. The table was clean but they seemed to have that sticky varnish some pubs have on them. I felt that the rest of the staff were just tired of life with the glimpse of a smile or charisma if you were lucky. The food was average at best. I picked the restaurant as it promotes itself as being 'on a mission to introduce our guests to the bountiful, fresh and tantalising flavours that define Skye's culinary landscape'. I was looking forward to an abundance of seafood but that was not to be and Gressingham Duck was a surprise to see. Starter was a savoury donut with goats cheese which sounded interesting but in reality the donut was cold and the goats cheese sauce was lukewarm. Really un-appetising. My main was chicken with haggis stuffing, mash and vegetables. The chicken seemed precooked and, when warmed, just a little dry around the edges. The best on the plate was the mash potato. 'Did we want dessert?' No, thank you! So we settled for the in-room Tunnocks bar.

Restaurant was very good.
No parking at hotel, and little parking available in Portree. Very small room at a very high price. Worst value out of the 7 places we stayed in Scotland.
- Real dark room enabling us to sleep straight until 8.00am while it was daylight outside - bed were very confortable - our room view was stunning - location was great
- the noise of someone knocking on the door (3 shots) on early morning is in fact the guy preparing coffee onthe ground (we were at 1st floor) - our neighbour on upper floor walk also a lot, the floor creaks a lot: think about your ear plugs
