The location is what this hotel is all about. It's across from Grant Park, within walking distance of Buckingham Fountain and the Bean. Plus, you can walk to the subway, walk to breakfast and pizza options, walk to Willis Tower, and Union Station. I would recommend the hotel buffet. Even though it seems expensive, the closest breakfast restaurant is not great and cost more than $50 for two of us. Shower had body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There were wrapped toothbrushes with toothpaste in case you forget. No lotion, though.
I paid for a lake view room, but the room wasn't high enough to see the lake. The furnishings are dated. The door to an adjoining room had more than an inch gap which allowed us to hear everything the neighbors were saying and doing. I liked the laminate floor instead of carpet, though. Some street noise.
The history, beautiful building, location and massive rooms
Can’t complain really we thought it was value for money
Location
-Corridor carpet dirty -Room ambiance horrible -Personnel at the check in/out point very unfriendly
Rooms are quite spacey, and location is perfect
Hotel is old, so carpets and some areas have a noticeable odor
It was beautiful
Rooms very small
Location was great! Rooms clean and the first floor was beautiful.
The tv in our room was so ridiculously small that I actually laughed out loud and sent it to friends as a joke. I couldn’t believe that a modern hotel had a tv that small and with what seemed to be standard definition.
