Enjoy an unforgettable adventure at the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre, featuring two of the Canadian Rockiesβ most iconic experiences. Walk high above the Sunwapta Valley on the glass-floored Skywalk, then journey onto the Athabasca Glacier aboard a massive Ice Explorer.
Meet your guide and travel to the Athabasca Glacier. Board the Ice Explorer, a massive, specially designed all-terrain vehicle with giant tires capable of climbing directly onto the glacier, and set off across the ice while your guide shares stories and insights about the Columbia Icefield and surrounding peaks.
Step out onto the glacier itself and walk across ice formed over 25,000 years. Take in the vast alpine landscape and even taste fresh, pure glacial water straight from the source.
After your glacier experience, continue to the Columbia Icefield Skywalk. Walk along a glass-floored platform suspended above the Sunwapta Valley, where only glass separates you from a 918-foot (279-meter) drop. Take in sweeping views of mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, and the winding Sunwapta River below.

Overall it was good
Really amazing and our guide Kulvinder was amazing. Thank you for a great day
our guides name was Leanne. She was entertaining. But it was cold! last day of the season - it was negative 17 Celsius. even then, my foot fell into the ice and got soaked (2x!) I did bring a can to get glacial water. Beautiful trip up. Biggest joke- why are the icefields selling a picklball paddle set? I didnt know you could set up courts on a glacier! (and I play most every day).
If was fun to walk on a glacier. The guide was good an informative.
The glacier was beautiful! Love it
