✈︎ Sharing my global travels staying in luxury and unique hotels, eating and drinking in some of the best restaurants, and visiting some of the world’s most hidden and beautiful historic landmarks! | I am an L.A.-based historian who got her star...
I will never not love a pink hotel, especially if that pink hotel is historic. La Valencia Hotel, also known as "The Pink Lady," opened in 1926 in La Jolla, offering Mediterranean-inspired luxury with stunning ocean views. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and iconic pink exterior, the hotel quickly became a favorite among Hollywood stars and affluent travelers. With its blend of historic charm, elegant decor, and lively ambiance, La Valencia continues to be a beloved landmark and a symbol of La Jolla’s upscale coastal lifestyle. It is right in the center of the action downtown, has a killer spa and honestly just feels like the coastal version of the Beverly Hills Hotel. I could not recommend it more!
The Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla, California, opened in 1913 as the Colonial Apartments and Hotel, serving as a luxurious destination for travelers. Over the years, it became a cherished landmark, known for its elegant architecture and prime location near the ocean. The hotel has undergone several renovations while maintaining its historic charm, offering modern amenities with a nod to its storied past. It is absolutely a beautiful hotel that feels like a step back in time with incredible views of the ocean. It also where visiting celebrity actors would stay when doing shows at the La Jolla playhouse.
This hotel is officially going to become my go-to when I am in the La Jolla area. Not only are the rooms super spacious, clean and all come with their own balconies but their pool is huge, heated, AND has views of the ocean. They have a large fully stocked gym, and an on-site restaurant/bar that is actually really good and it really just feels like you are tucked away on a private island.
