Welcome to Lake Kivu, a beautiful and quiet region of Rwanda. Located just a few hours from Kigali, Lake Kivu is the perfect place to visit for nature loving travellers and people looking for more authentic experiences. We stayed at a beautiful little property located in Gisenyi called Inzu Lodge Eco Lodge. Very rustic and minimalist but with a nice view of Lake Kivu and some delicious food as well. Fun fact, Lake Kivu is one of the African Great Lakes. It lies on the border between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, and is in the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. Lake Kivu empties into the Ruzizi River, which flows southwards into Lake Tanganyika. If relaxing is not enough for you, the Lake Kivu region or Rwanda has a lot to offer with its number one attraction the famous singing fishermen who go out almost every single evening to get samboza which is a very popular fish eaten all around the country. Watching them paddling and signing as the sun sets on Lake Kivu is an experience like no other. We also went fishing on Lake Kivu and caught a few fish!
