Miðhraun - Lava resort

The hotel was relaxing, in a good setting, and had all the amenities listed. The geothermal pool was a wonderful addition. We went to dinner at the restaurant one night and everything was prepared well with fresh ingredients. Overall we had a great stay.

Kitchen was modern and well equipped with microwave, stove/oven, and refrigerator. Living room and bedrooms were spacious with modern furniture, and the laundry space with washer/dryer were an excellent addition. The ambient heated floors throughout were wonderful. Another very positive aspect to our stay was our visit to the barn to interact with the sheep during their feeding. The resort property is also beautiful, and the gorgeous architecture of the restaurant building that also serves as the reception area is unique and inviting. The host offered us tea/coffee when we arrived because our apartment wasn't immediately accessible. Unfortunately, we didn't take any meals in the restaurant so cannot comment on that. The resort is a perfect place for couples, families, and large groups, as they have houses, apartments, and cottages to rent, and the restaurant building can hold very large groups for events/gatherings.

Only thing missing is a freezer. Wish we could have used the geothermal pool, but we unable to fit that into our stay, although it looked wonderful as did the sauna and cold plunge pond.

This is a beautiful cottage with some fun amenities. We enjoyed the sauna and hot pool. It was a great way to start our vacation in Iceland!! We enjoyed watching the sheep.

Peaceful location

We booked only one hour before arrival the staff were helpful but its best to check that the room is prepared We where booked into a room that hadn't been cleaned, probably a genuine mistake, but all that was offered or a change to another room or a refund I was a little disappointed that the manager didn't extend to a discount on the meal or something I would then be giving 9 out of 10, but I have stayed at this accommodation before with no problem probably a one-off

As there were only three other guests, we got upgraded to our own little cabin, that was really nice. The cabin was lovely, spacious and clean, the kitchen was nice and had all we needed, also dishwasher. In the bathroom there was also washing machine which we didn't use, however if you intend to, bring a washing machine powder. We loved the hot tub, there were changing rooms next to it, you have to bring your own towel. Lake next to it can be used as cold plunge - the only problem is getting in and out, maybe steps would be a good idea. Overall very nice stay and recommend staying.

It's not as much as resort as I would think. There is a hot tub (option of cold plunge in little lake) and sauna, and that's about it. It was self check in which nobody communicated with us and as we followed the information from Booking we thought we had to check in between 4-6. As we arrived, there was a note on the door about check in. I would love to know this earlier as we wouldn't not had to rush as much. There was TV in our cabin, but didn't have any channels, so there was no use for us. No hairdryer available, which I think should be a standard in these cabins. There was an option to borrow it at reception however that had limited opening hours.

Very helpful staff, house was fully equipped. Spa area with hot tub and sauna was a cherry on top.
