Dead Valley Lodge

I cant say enough good things about the property. Staff was the absolute best. Room and view was perfect, not to mention you have the closest access to get into the park in the morning, minus private entrance. Food was legit. What else do you need.

Proximity to the dunes & pool. Thought Richard was very helpful and good.

The rooms were great - large and well-equipped, and having a completely separate bathroom was really good.

The food was disappointing - probably the worst dinner we had out of 14 nights in Namibia. The staff, with one exception, were not particularly helpful. If you order a cocktail at the bar, watch the guy make it because our double gin and tonics probably had half a measure in rather than two. When we arrived, we were told it was best to check-out the night before leaving as most people head out around 5:15 to get to Soussusvlei for sunrise. When I went to do so, I was told it was not possible and I would have to do it in the morning. When I pointed out I had been told to do this by a member of staff, the guy pressed a button and the bill was printed immediately - why the initial resistance to doing it?

We love the location, incredible and magnificent in the middle of the desert.

There should be more food variety.

Full pension is not worth it and doesnt give value for the money at all. Limited all inclusive a la carte meny for lunch was very basic, Greek salad or chicken salad, fish or meat dish with canned fruit salad for dessert. Coffee is self served and not always fresh. Missing garlic bread, missing potatoes,missing salad etc etc for dinner buffet. Some guests couldnt get a glass of red wine but were asked to buy a bottle. This was however misunderstanding from waiter. Poor breakfast, limited choices, glasses missing on buffet for juice, seems like canned fruit salad again, no coffee served on tables etc. for this price I would have expected more.

Great decor, perfect location, amazing views, friendly staff! Very helpful staff in providing suggestions for the day. Can't beat the views from the pool

Very poor water pressure in the showers. Dinner is served 7-930 and we arrived at 8 and already lots of serving dishes were empty (and not replenished) and they had no more white wine to purchase with dinner. For the price of the lodging I would expect these to be non-issues.
