South Lake TahoeThe proximity to the the Lake and to the city is nice. The staff was polite and friendly. They have champagne upon arrival and that was nice too.
This simply is not a five star establishment. We booked a Lakeview room. We had a view of the parking lot, cars, dozens of people, who were not guests, walking by our patio, a fence, and then the lake. We were squished in a corner, next to the supply closet. Every morning we woke up to the sounds of housekeeping, chatting. It wasn't their fault, we were literally crunched next to them. The walls are paper thin, a signature of a five star hotel, is quiet. At one point, at three in the morning, we had to ask people to please go elsewhere as they were chatting in front of our door. Our patio was unusable, because it is a view of a public parking lot. A lady tried to come use our bathroom, while our kids were sleeping. I had to tell her no. We never had a place to park, the lot is always full, forcing us to use valet. Valet is included in the price, but we want to get up and go. Parking is hard to find at trailheads. They do not have concierge services, laundry services (despite having a laundry bag), and the pool area is subpar. The pool area is more akin to a motel, than a five star hotel. It is fairly clean, but definitely needs an updated filtration system. It is not resort quality, not even a four star resort quality. The restaurant, Jimmy's has an excellent dinner service. Food is very nice, as is the service. The staff at the hotel are nice, but they are not knowledgeable. They didn't have any idea about where to kayak, they didn't have suggested activities, or any other service you expect at a five, or even four star hotel. Is it a suitable hotel, yes, I suppose. Do I recommend it, no, I do not. We have stayed at enough upscale resorts to know this just isn't one of them. They have agreed to give us a modest amount of money back, and we appreciate that, nonetheless, we missed out on kayaking, because we couldn't get up. We were woke up from the noise. I paid over 3000 dollars for luxury, and we expected to get it.
the location the bar but not the prices

Excellent location, lovely room decor and amenities, staff are excellent and helpful. Beach location is wonderful.
There is nothing wrong with the property
Jimmy’s restaurant on site was great. Friendly feel and clean, well appointed room.
Parking wasn’t free - which seemed unnecessary
