Better communication from staff would be appreciated.
Great location to many "tourist" areas in San Diego and close to convention center. Easy walk to many places, tram station near the hotel. Easy access to trolley bus.
Room had horrible lighting, living area so dark difficult to read. Room temperature was hot, had to leave curtins drawn to keep room cool which did not help with lighting issue. Front desk personnel were all rude and not helpful. Only had room cleaned once during our stay at our request which was OK. Ate breakfast at restaurant twice, charged egg surcharge on one visit but not the other, charged for drinks with refills but on one visit, no one ever offered a refill. The staff on the weekday we ate there were so busy talking to each other that the customers were ignored. One of us had coffee, watch the waitress pick up the carafe from another table, go fill it up and put it on our table.
The bed is comfy. On the 10th floor I had a nice bay view.
There was mold in the shower. Also there is a hidden "service fee" from the hotel (similar to a resort fee in Las vegas I guess). This service fee was not shown until after booking. This cost me an extra $80. Parking is an extra 65 per night. You can self park right next to the hotel on K street for much cheaper.
Fun atmosphere. Great location.
Confusion about who and where you get the hardrock discount. Stores, restaurants.
