Nice room, and the pool area was nice (and open early). Has a bar/restaurant. Super convenient to Route 17. Delicious Indian restaurant across the street.
Parking was OK, but was extra and you had to pay through an app, not at the desk. You should check your reservation to see if breakfast is included- apparently for some it is, and other as it isn’t. For us it was, but I didn’t do anything special to request it, so not sure how that works. Breakfast was $25 per person otherwise. The food was good- you could choose either the buffet or order an entrée off the menu. One bummer for me was no accessible, free coffee in the AM. You had to ask a server for it (and pay for it if breakfast isn’t included. And if it is, only one drink is included- you have to choose between coffee and juice).

The hotel was pleasantly situated in a redwood picturesque suburban neighborhood near the Santa Cruz 17 Highway as well among a multitude of local convenience stores/restaurants. It was certainly adequate & suitable for our overall travel purposes. The bathroom was spacious and the oversized pillows were dreamy. Parking was easy, although there was a charge.
We had to take two separate elevators to arrive to our room location. Eventually, we bypassed the main lobby & found an alternative way. Like other hotels in the area, the rates during our weekend stay were through the roof due to the UC Santa Cruz graduation/commencement (which was also the purpose of our visit). It was extremely difficult to justify spending a rate that was 3x (or greater) what the hotel typically charges during most other times.
Meth amphetamine smoke came into my suite from shared vent in high ceiling. Very strong. Not sure how the hotels can do anything about it. Happens everywhere in Santa Cruz. Not Hiltons fault. All I could do is turn on the bathroom fan and leave the window open.

I paid for a balcony room. Little did I know that the fourth floor backs up to a raised parking lot. My stunning balcony view that I paid a premium for was actually a view directly into the driver and passenger seat of a Toyota Tundra with high beams that blinded us at night before we knew to close the blackout curtain (the parking space was about a foot from the edge of our balcony). Pretty disappointed in how misleading the booking was, since to me, "balcony" is not synonymous with "parking lot porch". It was also pretty disappointing to have to keep our patio door shut even during gorgeous weather because the aforementioned parking lot was stoner central. It was unpleasant to say the very least to wake up to seeing people, including some in staff uniforms, lighting up a J ten feet from our room.
