San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter

The view was ok. The beds were good. Elevator good.

The staff at the desk could have been a bit nicer. I was not told initially about having to do a deposit. I was not told this until I had already prepaid and was in the hotel after driving 8 hrs to get there. So I could not reject the room. We had no refrigerator and were not told they could have brought us one until checking out. And to top it all off there was no complimentary breakfast or parking. I had to pay 65 $ a night for parking. I felt like Marriotts was determined to keep my deposit in whatever way they could. So was I pleased? Not at all! Some things I could have overlooked, but there was too many. I refused to pay for that breakfast and went somewhere else instead.

1/2 room wasn't cleaned properly by housekeeping, the bathtub wouldn't drain properly and no microwave in room

The only issue I had was the reservation was under the wrong name! Booking.com had used my middle name as my last name and the hotel couldn’t locate my reservation when I tried to check in

Valet parking was $65

Location

I was disappointed that there are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms. It's important to be able to refrigerate and reheat the leftovers from the many fabulous restaurants in the Gaslamp

Good location in proximity to conference centers and downtown. Staff was very helpful and positive.

Bed was uncomfortable. Room could have been a bit cleaner (I have high standards though).
