Downtown location.
We booked this property because when we inquired about over sized vehicle parking they said yes, they have secure over sized parking. Come to find out their secure parking is an ally way.
The Fairmont Palliser is an incredible piece of Calgarian history. I love that this antique building still exists and that people still go here to celebrate their beautiful gatherings, large or small. The morning and day staff during my stay were excellent. Upon arrival, the baggage handlers and bellmen were just wonderful. The front staff were friendly and helpful. The chandeliers were exquisite and the Christmas decorations were pretty. The floors in the main entry are beautiful. The pool and hot tub were very clean, and the water was crystal clear. The temperatures were exactly as I had expected. The main pool was refreshingly warm/cool, with warm water jetting in, and the hot tub was hot at 40°. The women's change room was beautiful with vanities to re-do your make up and hair after you swim. I loved the pictures in the hallways of the mezanine level with stories about previous visitors to the hotel. The beds were so comfortable. I would love to see one or two of the rooms turned into a gallery/museum and have them dressed as per what guests of old time may have looked like or been like, and have special tickets (affordable-or with a meal) and times to tour certain areas that tell the tale of the hotel and patrons both famous or regular civilian. It would be great to restore some of the old ways of how they did things in the hotel such as the telephone operator room (just a demo dosplay) just simply to see how the old hotel once was and the complicated yet simplistic way the hotel was run. Maybe have a dress up day of the week or month where staff dress as they did in the 1920's, 30's, 60's and jump to 2000's and then decorate updated rooms for those guests looking for more current amenities. It would be interesting to maybe have different wings of the building representing eras as the building itself housed so many patrons in the different eras. This building is so charming. I just love it!
The table next to my bed had not been wiped clean so there was a sticky ring of residue on the table from the previous guest. Likely an oversight in a rush to get the room ready. The overnight staff were not as friendly as the experience with the morning and day staff.
Beautiful Hotel, facilities, rooms and being able to use the Gold Lounge was perfect. The Spa and Massage were great.
Absolutely nothing.
I enjoyed the rooms and how polite the staff was and being upgraded to fairmont gold for a good price.
I did not like that we couldn’t watch anything on tv
