The hotel's room service was unsatisfactory, as the restaurants were uncomfortably warm and the food was horrible. Additionally, there were issues with roaches in the dining areas. Moreover, the staff lacked friendliness, which was evident even at the restaurant, where it took us 45 minutes just to receive water. I have no intention of returning to this establishment.
- Lots of activities and parties going on and a good thing is the vibe is not excessively exciting. The adult-only Hideaway section and the exclusive Diamond Club section are peaceful but not boring. everything is just right and you will never feel embarrassed or confused wherever you are in the entire premise. - A perfect location if you are looking for a long, calm and swimmable beautiful out-of-town beach in Cancun. You can also experience stargazing at midnight which you would probably not be able to expect in the central Hotel Zone. - Food is quite good overall for the price range except one thing I will mention in Cons below. Lots of choices in restaurants and bars and you will probably not miss the downtown Cancun. - About Diamond Club, the personal butler service is really helpful: just text anything from inquiry to a reservation request from anywhere in the premise then you get a solution. My butler Brie was very responsive and kind. Exclusive check-in/check-out is also great. In addition, my room was upgraded to one with the rooftop jacuzzi which is fantastic. I do not drink at all, but Diamond Club was still worth the extra fee. - I really like the overall landscape design and the layouts of the facilities. Lots of seating spaces both under the sun and under the roof including the sophisticated main lobby. The entire premise is huge and my 4-days was too short to explore everything. There are a bunch of staff working day and night and it's good to see someone is always cleaning or fixing somewhere to keep its conditions.
- My only gripe was the conduct of an on-site photographer who wore black long swimwear in and out the swimming pools. I'm not sure if she is a Royalton employee or a third-party contractor, but the way she moved around in the water during the activity was not comfortable to me at all: I was at the edge of the group in the water and she passed by and stop between me and other attendees many times turning her back on me and focusing on other guests. Of course, it's solely her discretion and her needs as a professional to decide whom she shoots/films from where, but she should have at lease been mindful not to make the non-object guest(s) isolated. For that reason, I no longer joined the water activities although the instructors are fantastic. - The restaurant Zen... Teppanyaki is a fun experience, but the choice of sushi is extremely limited to only several rolls and no nigiri at all. Huge disappointment as I was expecting "Sushi and Teppanyaki" as it boasts. - I was totally fine, but for those who are looking for a strictly adult-only resort: Royalton Riviera Cancun as its entirety is huge, but the adult-only Hideaway section is not large. - This is not a con but what you should be aware of before you book - it's in the middle of nowhere if you are expecting a downtown vacation.
