Check-in was smooth and easy, Sylvia was great. I was travelling with a friend and she booked her room later than I did, but both front desk gals were great about putting us on the same floor at least. Hotel location in downtown is hard to beat, you are close to everything! Food, shops, coffee, clubs, etc. We just so happened to be staying during a Diamondbacks series game weekend and the Morgan Wallen concert so there were people everywhere but the hotel was busy but quiet, it didn't feel over crowded considering all the events. We actually picked this location because it was close to the comedy club we had traveled down to see Nurse John (tiktok superstar), within walking distance. Phoenix heat is never a joke, and the concierges were ready with ice cold mini water bottles whilst we checked in. Beds were comfy, bathroom was clean, water pressure in the shower was meh, décor was interesting given the history behind it. The lamp is something you all have to check out and see for yourself.
I'm not sure if I would say I didn't like it, I had just never experienced this, the public restrooms in the lobby have a very interesting sound. I believe the owners wife had an affinity for owls, so when you walk into the restroom you hear owl calls or whooing...I guess she has passed away and he wanted to highlight this in honor of her, which is a sweet sentiment. The water pressure in the shower was meh (it's a thing, getting all the shampoo out of your hair takes sooooo much longer if the pressure is terrible, may as well rinse it in the sink). I may have skipped over the part in the booking that says its Valet parking only, I wasn't upset, I love valet parking, and realistically the parking garage wasn't far, I could see someone though who in 115 degree heat having to lug the luggage from the garage to the hotel would be hazardous, guess that's why everything is on wheels nowadays. However, maybe making that more visible prior to booking would be helpful.
The ambiance, location and staff.
Noise from the other rooms or hallway, as my room was close to the elevator. The towels were stained.
nothing
honestly it was a pretty miserable experience for me. I had accidently booked a stay here and at the Marriot on the same days. I tried to cancel the stay here but they were going to bill me for 1 night stay which was about $350. I then then figured I could stay there one night and just cancel the subsequent nights. I called customer service who recommended I speak with the hotel staff directly. When I went there, they told me they would charge me over $500 to cancel but I could stay there for 1 night for $600 or all 3 nights for $1500. The front desk guy kept going back to his manager and everytime he came back he would quote me a higher price...then it became $600 to stay for 1 night which I believe should be a criminal offense. This experience just negatively colored my entire experience and overshadowed anything potential positive attributes the hotel had which is why my overall score is low. I felt completely taken advantaged of. I will NEVER return. I ended up only staying for 1 night because cheaper to pay Marriot's cancellation fee. Their room was small, definitely not worth $600.
Staff was really friendly and accommodating. Room was great and the whole hotel was very clean and beautiful. Perfect location to downtown fun.
