The idea of this resort is really cool however the grounds and the rooms are not maintained. The rooms are dirty and the grounds are dirty. The first night in our room I grabbed the ice bucket to get ice and took the lid off of it to find it was covered in mold. I then went to the ice machine to find that it is open to the road with no door or covering, there’s trash floating in the water under where the ice falls (does it recycle this water) and the machine itself has mold, slime and green grime all over it. I called the front desk to complain only to have them bring me broken plastic buckets with no lid or extra bags and didn’t even ask for the moldy bucket that I had. Never once over the next few days of our stay did we receive a new ice bucket or new plastic bag to get ice in but really the ice machine probably shouldn’t have been used anyway. The Barefoot restaurant was below average quality of food, nothing tasted very good and it was overly priced. The main pool is decent but the other pools are dirty and not well maintained.
Great location, beach, pools, ponds where kids can feed ducks, turtles and fish. Very nice restaurant on site. But the rooms are old, small, somewhat dirty. You will hear neighbors. The bed was uncomfortable. Even bed sheets felt old and rough on skin.
The foliage and wild life were nice -the golf cart pickup service was convenient
Our room felt sad and rundown -the bedding was worn and the shower was broken -it seemed to need new plumbing because it was difficult to regulate the VERY hot water -they don’t serve breakfast ?!? As I was checking in, I was told that they charge $46 a night for guests to park near their room.-on a huge open property with tons of space -that felt greedy!
It's a great place for kids since it's safe and you can let them run around without worrying. I however don't have children.
Nothing the hotel can do, but there is a lot of road noise from much of the hotel. The rentals for any kind of water sport (kayaks etc) seemed very expensive. If you have some work you'd like to do while there, there is very limited indoor space: after the cafe closes you essentially only have your hotel room.
I wish that the property was a little closer to Mission and Pacific beaches but I appreciated having technically I needed right on the property.
