The room is large. Easy check-in and check-out online. No private wifi, only a guest wifi that everyone can access, even if you are on the street outside of the hotel.
I have never been as disappointed by a hotel as this stay. I checked in late, at 10:30pm, after a show in downtown San Jose, and had to leave early in the morning for business meetings. I arrived in the room, ready to sleep so I can feel well and rested for a long day of work. The room had no AC on, the temperature was at 75F. Realistically, no one can sleep well with such a temperature. A room should be at 68 at the maximum. I turned on the AC immediately, and the sound that came out of the wall was crazy. I was surprised, but hoped it would go down, it did not. I waited 1h in bed to turn it off, otherwise I knew I won't be able to sleep with this on. Finally, in bed at 11:30pm, I realized when the AC got off that the street noise was so intense there was no chance I could sleep. Two major windows in the room open onto a 4 way street. You hear the cars and trucks driving by and honking, all throughout the night. I put the earplugs that the hotel gave me on the nightstand (they know what's happening), and even with them, I could not stop hearing the street noises. I managed to fall asleep at around 1 am but woke every 30 minutes from a weird noise outside. I was on the 2nd floor. The hotel seems quite empty, and if they know this is a problem, they should try to put all clients on the upper floors to avoid such situations. For a $350+/night hotel, you expect to sleep correctly.
To much noises, from the street and from the party. This hotel holding party at night. But never control the voice. So many people talk loudly at 1 am at midnight. And the hotel didn’t make any effort to avoid this situation.
Perfect in every way! Rooms are nice, modern and well appointed. Very comfortable beds, supreme linens, excellent shower and bath amenities. Pleasant service from the entire staff, there's absolutely everything right about this place. I stayed at Hotel De Anza for local business and made it a date night, too. I highly recommend Hotel De Anza for business and pleasure travelers. Five stars all around!
The room I booked was the room I got - higher floor, nice view of the east foothills and SJSU's tower. Bed was large and comfortable. Bedside lighting was conveniently situated.
Room decor is pretty tired and so is the "roaring 20s" shtick. Wallpaper in the bathroom is peeling. Grout on the shower pan is failing. It's really too bad hotels don't seem to understand that attention to minor maintenance issues such as this would make such a big difference in how the property is perceived overall. Bathroom had clearly not been cleaned beyond a quick swipe to clean up pee off the floor in front of the toilet. Ew. I always bring my own wipes anyway but was very glad I had them this time. Dead bugs on the floor and windowsill. Really??? Again, really subpar housekeeping No parking? Not even a voucher for a nearby garage? Unless you want to spend like $100 on valet (plus tipping)? In downtown San Jose? Completely ridiculous and unacceptable. Based on this alone, I will never be back.
