Breakfast super. Stunning location!
Rooms too small. A labyrinth to get to them.
Everything. The castle is fantastic, the suite was very spacious and comfortable, the food was delicious and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. One of our best experiences during our stay was a server named Paula. She was such a hard worker, so helpful to us with the language barrier, giving us information on shopping and places to visit. We missed her for the rest of our trip!
The ONLY complaint was the split bed. It was comfortable but kept us from sleeping close together.
Beautiful hotel
Breakfast was notch Spanish hotel buffet style. Location impressive on top of the hill. Architecture impressive. Bar food very slow.
The room was located in a building attached to the parador and involved descending a number of stair cases. The fire doors were closed when we first approached the room. We had to hold them open with a rubbish bin. BEWARE ... The ramp/step entering the underground car park is very high for sports cars.
Friendly, fabulous location in a very historic building. Breakfast excellent. Good value.
Beautiful building with a large open courtyard in the centre and lovely glassed in cloister and gallery passages upstairs. It is on a hill so far reaching views over the (fairly unremarkable) town. Very helpful reception staff. Our bedrooms were large and comfortable with good bathrooms. No tea/ coffee making facilities though. We enjoyed excellent food and service at dinner - the scallops were outstanding as were the Galician Crepes Suzette which were flambd at the table with theatrical panache.
There's a rigid booking system for meals so one needs to do this well before arrival. Otherwise you may be told, as we were, that you can't have dinner until 10pm as the dining room was fully booked or breakfast until 10am. This latter was very tiresome as one needs tea or coffee before that and the bar/cafeteria doesn't open until 11am. We stormed the dining room in the end and demanded pots of tea but was not welcomed by the imperious young woman in charge though we were given some in a seating area. Also pre book your taxi if arriving by train or you may find yourself stranded outside a deserted station. The maintenance of this historic property seems patchy and many dead plants and shrubs adorn the courtyard and beautiful galleries. Tables remain unwiped and there seems a general lack of care and attention to detail.
Tha building, the staff and the ambience...
No food available from 4.00pm to 8.30pm.
