I loved the dolphin quest experiences. Paid to upgrade to lagoon room. Really worth it.
We saw a couple of centipedes in our room.
Warm welcome with leis at check in. We had a recently refurbished room on the 3rd floor facing the golf course so it was quiet. The carpet looked new as did all the tiles and flooring in the bathroom and recently painted as well. The size of the King room was pretty large, included mini fridge and coffee maker + kettle. (The mountain facing room worked out well for us, some of the ocean views are right above the circular drive where you valet the car so might be nosier.) Everything in the room was very clean. The property was nice with a pool area, access to the beach, dolphin lagoon where you can watch the dolphins swim around. The gym, sauna & jacuzzi in the locker rooms were well equipped and not crowded when we were there. We didn't eat on property, but there is a little strip mall (about 5 min drive) with a Foodland. Purve donuts (yum) and some casual eateries. Since it was outside of Waikiki, it felt calmer and much less hectic at the Kahala, although the drive into Waikiki was only about 15-20 min. I would definitely recommend staying here for a luxury resort experience.
Nothing everything was good
Beach front, very beautiful hotel and resort the staff is attentive.
expensive and tips expected.
We loved the room, one of few hotel rooms that we have actually enjoyed spending time in, the ocean front view certainly contributed but the design of the room itself was very pleasant. Service was excellent from beginning to end. The location away from the city, in the 'Beverly Hills' of Honolulu next to a small beach and a golf course was very beautiful and tranquil.
It was a very 'family friendly' hotel, which means a lot of noisy kids in the small pool area. Also the pool restrooms need a serious upgrade worthy of a hotel of that caliber. The bar/bars were frankly very disappointing. Not only since they were aparently unable to create good, classic cocktails in the correct manner, but a hotel of that quality deserves a real bar, and not just an appendix to the breakfast room and pool. Perhaps this has to do with the above fact that the hotel caters to families. With the possible exception of Arancino, the restaurants did not have a good price/quality ratio - especially Hoku's which aims to be haute cuisine, which it is not. I can not recommend sitting on the outside terrace for breakfast since there are a lot of pigeons and other birds.
Everything was wonderful. The location, shuttle bus from hotel to mostly all the malls, the breakfast was delicious, immediately on beach
