The property is lovely. The staff are so accommodating. Excellent food. Amazing service. Too much money and I hope that they can help the maasai community more where the lodge is located. They receive no benefit from giving up their land for the lodge to use.
Beautifully designed place on the top of the rim of Ngorongoro crater in the magic Black Acacia forest. Perfect location, warmest and most helpful staff. Very good quality accomodation!
The rooms could have a bit more insulation. The communication with the lodge was not perfect, we learned a bit late that getting a vehicle for a game drive is difficult. Otherwise, a really nice, even if expensive, place.
The location is excellent for entering the crater, but it is very remote. We arrived from Arusha after an arduous drive with our guide.
Upon checking out, we were given very conflicting information from three different employees as to whether we had paid or not. No one would take our charge card, but then the facility called us later for card information. One employee insisted our two glasses of wine had been comp'd by our travel agent and refused to take our $20 for the wine; another employee later angrily told us we owed. The money was not the issue. The conflicting information was disconcerting. We were also not advised there would be paperwork and a fee for crater entrance, so our agent had to scramble to accommodate this request.
Heating in the room is a treat, the Maasai Dance for welcome something special and the bonfire in the evening with sunset view just beautiful. Best was the short distance to the entrance on the other side of the crater as the 'main entrance'.
Basic rate without any game drives is very expensive, the buffet in the evening was unfortunately mostly cold. Everything is a bit impersonal.
Spectacular location and view to Ngorongoro crater. Very helpful staff, but a overpriced
Price for value
The location itself was very nice and the tents bigger than expected and very beautiful. Staff was super friendly and our game view just awesome. Would highly recommend staying here!
At night the tents got a little cold. There was a heater in the room but it didnt have a gas tank installed. It was a tented camp so we kind of expected it. If you are self driving the location might be a little difficult to find. If you find it, its very well located, though.
